Our creative Year 7 students have been busy applying their knowledge of design and STEM! As part of their science project on simple machines, they designed and built innovative contraptions to transport a plasticine man a distance of 5cm. Using levers, pulleys, wheels, and other basic mechanical systems, they demonstrated how simple machines can solve real-world problems in fun and inventive ways.
In an engaging science experiment, our Year 9 students explored the concept of infection transmission. One student began with a test tube containing a sodium hydroxide solution, while the others had water. Throughout the lesson, students "roamed" the classroom, exchanging drops of liquid with their classmates at various points, simulating how infections spread through contact. At the end of the experiment, an indicator was added to each test tube to reveal who had been "infected." This interactive activity provided a vivid demonstration of how diseases can spread in a population, reinforcing important lessons in biology and public health.
