Reminders:
Hats must be worn this term! UV has been quite high already. No hat, no play. Students are more than welcome to leave their hats in their bag tubs at school if this helps.
What you can do at home
If you would like to help your child at home, you could choose from the following -
Writing - Practice writing creative sentences for each of the following heart words - help, build, years, pretty, garden, many, there.
Reading - It is recommended that year 1 students read for 5-10 mins every night.

Over the next fortnight, students will be focusing on reviewing and consolidating their narrative writing skill. They will also be completing a cold write as part of the end of year assessments.
Writing Process involves - Planning, Writing, Editing.
Planning Process involves thinking about - character, settings, beginning, middle (problem) and ending (solution).
Narrative structure has a - beginning, middle and end.
Spelling:
Over the next fortnight student will be focusing on:
Phonemes: /ir/ as in bird and /au/ as in auto at the neginning or in the middle of a word.
Heart words: enough, rough, tough, mother, brother, another.
Morphology- reviewing the suffixes -less, meaning without. Examples such as homeless, careless, helpless, hopeless. Also -est, meaning most and used to compare. Such as biggest, smallest, craziest.
