Thank you everyone!

We wanted to reach out and say a massive thank you to everyone for helping to make the RSC LC Meet on Sunday a huge success! It was a really big day, and we couldn’t have done it without everyone chipping in. It was a fantastic team effort! Our 4 four big meets are a chance for us to all work together to host an amazing event for our members and other clubs from Melbourne and across Victoria. It’s a lot of work but it’s something our swimmers can be proud of and will create long lasting memories. Our meets are becoming known for being well organized, fun as well as providing fierce racing. The officials in attendance as well as visiting clubs, all commented on what a well-run meet it was. This is what will keep swimmers coming back to RSC meets in the future, so well done to everyone- we have some amazing volunteers at our club!
We had parents, swimmers, grandparents and family friends all chip in to help with everything from timekeeping, handing out medals, catering, announcing, check starting, marshalling, preparing sausages and manning the raffle table! Some of these parents didn’t even have swimmers racing, but still turned up and lent a helping hand. I’m sure many marathons were completed with the number of steps accumulated by our volunteers throughout the day!
We had 2 wonderful parents, Kay and Jon, volunteer as Team Managers for the huge morning session. Thank you for being there for all our junior swimmers over the 5 hour session!
Our Officials were amazing as always. Some of them had already done a full day’s officiating on Saturday at MSAC and backed it up by helping us at our meet on Sunday. We are so lucky to have Officials that always support us at RSC, even if they had already walked 22kms the day before, up and down the pool at another meet. When you see the officials at our next meet, be sure to thank them for all their hard work. Without them, out meets wouldn’t be allowed to be ‘qualifying’ meets and none of the times would be official times.
A big shout out to our Competitions Officer, Miek, and Lachlan W for ensuring the meet ran as smooth as it did. Miek is one of the most organized people we know and we're lucky to have him on board team RSC! A special mention to Serina for helping her dad Miek out in the control room, setting up the auto coach system, stop watches, meet mobile, as well as helping with catering and pack up after a long day!
Another big thank you goes to Jackie for coordinating all the raffle prizes, lucky envelopes and BBQ supplies. This is a massive role that takes weeks of planning and preparation. As soon as one meet finishes, preparations for the next one starts! Thank you to Annmarie for helping to source some of our amazing raffle prizes this meet. Our winners were so thrilled with their prizes, and 4 out of our 6 winners were RSC families! We love that!!
Thanks also to Nicole for preparing the raffle flyer. RSC raised $2022 over the course of the day. This money goes straight back into the club and assists in keeping costs for things like interstate trips as low as possible for our families.
A special shout out to Sean, for his fun, enthusiastic and clear announcements on the day. DJ Sean is definitely becoming a crowd favourite at our meets! Also, thanks to Brett & Justin, our chief timekeepers. Ensuring we always had timekeepers was a massive effort, and your efforts ensured the meet ran on time, and smoothly.
Cheryl, Karen, Marita, Annmarie, Peter and Bec did an amazing job with marshalling and check starting - we're sure you got a week's worth of steps in over the course of the day! The AM session in particular was quite hectic, but you all handled the pressure perfectly with calm, clear minds and nice loud voices when needed.
Preparing and serving the most delicious sausages and bacon & egg rolls were Vijay, Brett O, Alison, Joel, and Jason - thank you all for manning the BBQ! The morning session was extremely busy – Vijay, Brett and Alison really did a superb job keeping the food coming, helping us boost our sales and fundraising efforts. This was Vijay’s and Brett O’s second meet in a row on the BBQ, and we truly appreciate you both! Over the last two meets, they have each spent 12 hours on the BBQ!
Thank you to Jess for catering the entire day and ensuring our officials, volunteers and timekeepers were well fed at all times. Thanks to Indi for assisting Jess during the AM session.
Selina & Vivian on the medals table- thank you for staying so calm and handling the craziness of the medals table! The wind almost blew us all away a few times, but you kept the results sheets intact and organised the entire meet.
We had many of our senior and junior swimmers help during the day at the raffle table when they were not swimming. Thank you to Luca A, Jayden K, Callum K, Thomas O, Thomas P, Daniel Z, Olivia Z and Jayden Z.
A big thank you to Nicole for capturing different aspects of the meet on camera and promoting RSC on our social media pages.
To our wonderful coaches Andrew, Brendan, Bella and Matt- thank you for being there all day to encourage and support our swimmers. We had some great swims, and your enthusiasm and encouragement made such a difference!
To all of our timekeepers- thank you again for your assistance. Many of you spent much longer than your allocated slot time keeping, and we are so thankful to you.
It was great to see so many RSC swimmers winning medals at our own meet- congratulations to you all. To our gold medallists, we hope you enjoy the Grill’d vouchers and get some delicious food to compliment your fantastic efforts in the pool!
If you couldn’t attend on Sunday, make sure to save the date of our next big meet in your calendar! The RSC Twilight Sprint meet is on Sunday, Dec 8th at Aquanation. We will again have a BBQ, lucky envelopes, and raffle as well as the ‘Bendigo Bank’ Skins race.
We need some assistance gathering donations for our lucky envelopes for our next meet. If you can assist with gathering donations, please contact admin@ringwoodswimmingclub.org.au
