TEACHING AND LEARNING

By Danielle Toose

Our students have been working hard throughout the year in all areas of the curriculum to further build their understanding and apply their knowledge and skills. Teachers collect data to inform their teaching throughout the semester, however weeks 5 and 6 are our assessment weeks. This is an exciting opportunity for our students to showcase the learning growth they have made over the semester through completing a range of assessment tasks. Teachers have carefully planned assessment schedules that span across the two weeks to manage the cognitive load for students and provide them with a supportive assessment environment.

There are some things that you can do at home to further support your child/ren:

  • Getting enough sleep will support students to be able to focus and complete their best work.
  • Eating a healthy breakfast will ensure they have enough energy to engage assessments throughout the day.
  • Arriving on time will support students to transition into the classroom and not feel rushed in the morning.
  • Attending school each day will allow students to engage in assessments tasks when they are planned with their class, rather than trying to catch up.

We understand that sometimes an absence is unavoidable, and we will do our best to ensure that students will be supported to complete any missed assessments tasks when they return to school. We thank our families in advance for their ongoing support and we are looking forward to communicating the achievements and growth our students have made in the upcoming reporting cycle.
