We had our 2026 School Captain and Vice Captain nominees and House Captain and Vice Captains nominees make their speeches to the school on Tuesday. All of the children were outstanding. They spoke calmly and passionately about our school and why they felt they would be a great leader in 2026. These days always fill me with a sense of pride as I know our community is all the richer for having such amazing young people leading us. Well done to everyone involved.

At our Primary Assembly this week, the Captains presented the School with an olive tree and plaque, to be planted on the school grounds. The plaque reads ‘From little things, big things grow’. What a wonderful legacy our 2025 Captains will leave at Bathurst Public School. They have been a terrific team of leaders to work with this year. Congratulations and thankyou to our Captains Billie, Cruz, Evie and Jonty along with their families on this beautiful addition that will also be a permanent reminder of our 2025 School Leaders.

The K-2 Athletics Carnival will be held this Friday 21st November from 9.15am-11.15am on the oval at school. The children will have a wonderful time with running races and many novelty games and activities on the event list. We welcome parents to come and cheer us on during the morning.

Our Schools Spectacular children have been busy practicing and are very excited about heading to Sydney next week. Thank you so much to our sponsors for supporting our spectacular students: DNK Mining Services, Mba Wealth Solutions, Bowman Dental, Bootleg Dining and Weekes Co. Congratulations to our Colour Run highest fundraiser, Charlie Seager, and our highest fundraising classes, 5/6C, 3-6N and KM, who will enjoy a BBQ lunch as their reward in the next few weeks.

Our Swimming organisation has been finalised. Notes have been sent home to every child participating informing parents of what time their child will attend swimming and what they need to bring each day. If there are any queries regarding swimming, please contact the office at school.  Mrs Mitchell will spend the full day at swimming on Monday ensuring each child has been placed correctly in groups. Children will be moved groups if required.

We’re thrilled to share an exciting update on our upcoming Canteen Artwork Project! Bathurst Public School has partnered with talented local artist Calum to transform the canteen area into a vibrant and inspiring space that reflects the heart of our school community.

Calum, whose work can be seen in several stunning local installations (see examples below), will begin creating the mural in late December. His design will celebrate the creativity, diversity, and spirit of Bathurst Public School — a lasting legacy for our students, families, and staff to enjoy for years to come.

The project is a joint initiative between the P&C and the school, who have together committed the majority of the funding required. To bring this vision fully to life, we’re now inviting our school community to help raise the final $10,000 needed to complete the project. Every contribution, big or small, helps us achieve this incredible goal.

If you’d like to be part of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to leave your mark on our school, donations can be made via:

PC General Account

BSB: 082441

ACC: 425386324

(Please include your name so it can be added to the artwork’s donor list.)

We can’t wait to see Calum’s creativity in action and share the finished masterpiece with our whole school community early next year!

In Weeks 7 and 8, Mrs Angie Lee will relieve as Principal, and in Weeks 9 and 10, Ms Sharon Cafe will relieve as Principal. I wish everyone a wonderful end to the year and know you will enjoy everything planned. Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year, and I look forward to seeing you all in 2026.
