Principal's Report

Dear SEPS Families,
I cannot believe that this is our second last newsletter for the year. Our Prep 2026 Transition is complete, and we cannot wait for our amazing little superstars to start with us in the new year. Today’s Curriculum Day has made it real as we began preparations for transition and the new grades.
Staffing
We will sadly be farewelling a few of our much-loved staff members who are moving on to new schools. It is very bitter-sweet for all of us. We are going to miss them dearly but we are very proud of them being the successful candidates at their new schools and know that these are good decisions for their families and homelife. We know that you will join us in congratulating Ms Fraser (6B) on her leadership role, Mr Miller (5B) who will be joining Ms Fraser at their new school, Ms Fennessy (4A) who is relocating closer to home and Mr Tremain (1C) who is relocating to a beautiful spot on the coast. We will announce new staff in the next newsletter, once our interview process is complete.
Transition
In Week 10 our students will have the opportunity to ‘Step Up’ into their new class for 2026 to meet their teacher and peers. It is important to support your child during this process by maintaining a positive mindset and making this as normal a process as possible. It is natural to feel anxious around the unknown but please rest assured that we spend hours reviewing our processes and planning to make transition as smooth possible. A very small percentage of children might arrive home in tears because they did not get a favourite teacher or do not have a certain friend in their class. The best way to support your child through transition is to remain calm and to listen by acknowledging their feelings and communicating openly about their concerns. Focus on the positive aspects of the change and foster a positive attitude by highlighting exciting opportunities such as new friendships and learning experiences. Stay in touch with your child’s new teacher and share relevant information and any concerns or feelings they may be experiencing. Our teachers are all fantastic and will support you and your child through this process when need be.
Important Dates
Please look out for all the important dates coming up. Due to a jam packed few weeks, we have had to move our final assembly to Friday 19 December. We will be farewelling our Year 6 graduates, staff and families who are moving on. We welcome parents and carers to join us in the gym for this special occasion.
Have a wonderful fortnight ahead and hope to see many of you over the next few weeks.
Jane Briffa
