Mandarin
Our Prep students have been learning colours in Mandarin this week! Through songs, games, and flashcards, they are now able to recognise and say a range of colours with growing confidence. It’s been wonderful to see their excitement as they connect each colour to familiar objects around them.
Our Grade 1/2 students continued learning about the four seasons and focused on expressing their preferences using full Mandarin sentences. They practised explaining why they like a particular season, using the conjunction 因为 (because).
It’s been wonderful to see students confidently sharing their ideas and building longer, more meaningful sentences in Mandarin!
This week, our Grade 3/4 students have been learning about transportation and locations in Mandarin. They practised forming full sentences to describe how they travel to different places using various forms of transport.
It’s been wonderful to see them confidently combine vocabulary to create meaningful and practical sentences!
This week, our Grade 5/6 students practised using their past-tense language skills by writing a recount of their weekend in Mandarin. They described where they went, what they did, and who they spent time with, using full sentences and familiar vocabulary.
It was great to see students confidently sharing their experiences and applying what they’ve learned in a real-life context!
You are all amazing!

Physical Education
Level F- 2
In PE this term, our F–2 students have been working on their passing and catching skills through netball activities. When practising chest passes, we’ve been using the cues “step, push, zombie hands” to help students remember how to set up and follow through. For catching, we’ve been talking about using “butterfly hands” to make a good target and bring the ball in safely. The students have really enjoyed the games and are becoming more confident each week
Level 3 & 4
In Levels 3 and 4, students have continued their work on territory and invasion games, shifting their focus to netball to practise these skills. We’ve had lots of discussions about the teamwork and inclusion needed in netball, as well as how the game differs from basketball. Students have been developing their attacking, defending and shooting skills, and they’re looking forward to putting it all together in small-sided games over the next few weeks.
Level 5 and 6
In Levels 5 and 6, students have been putting their game sense strategies into action while playing modified soccer. It’s been great to see how well they’re working together, encouraging each other and showing genuine sportsmanship. The students are really starting to think about how to use space, support their teammates and make smart decisions during the game.

Science
Foundation
Our Foundation students have continued to look at the impact that litter makes in the sea. All of the ocean walls have now been 'saved' by the students cleaning up.
All classes have now had the pleasure of learning about the ocean with our Level 6 leaders and I Sea, I Care Ambassadors. They especially liked learning about decorator crabs and the way stingrays swim through the ocean.
Level 1 & 2
Last week the students learnt about brass and woodwind instruments and made their own panpipes. They experimented with the way that the length of the pipe changed the pitch of the sound.
Level 3 & 4
During Week 7 Level 3&4 learnt about pollinators and made a bee, one of the best pollinators. The bees are now pollinating the students' flower models.
Level 5 & 6
Last week the students created an Electromagnet using copper wire, a nail and a circuit. They practised magnetising paper clips and other metal objects.
Whole School Focus Week 8
This week the entire school has been focussed resources. In particular, they have analysed how long everyday objects take to decompose and our use of single use plastic water bottles.
Science Books
Keep a look out for your child's Science Book, which will come home during weeks 9 or 10. It will be a fantastic opportunity to share your child's science journey.
