Our Year 5 and 6 students returned home from Golden Valley Camp yesterday afternoon. They had a blast, challenging themselves and building their connections with team building activities. It was a real highlight to see our students participating in activities such as the giant swing, human foosball, the leap of faith and ziplining. I was extremely proud of their resilience, when challenging themselves to some really difficult activities.

I thank our parent helpers Glenn and Sue, as well as our staff who attended.

Cross Country Results

On Wednesday we had 5 students compete at Division Cross Country at Toomuc Reserve, which is an outstanding achievement for theses students who made it to this competitive level. Well done to Jaxson C, Rylan, Sienna and Nesta.

A special congratulations Namo who came 5th and will go on to compete at Regional level later in the year.

Bully Zero Incursion

On Monday 2nd June, our Year 3-6 students are attending an incursion from Bully Zero.

Bully Zero is an Australia’s organisation, delivering face to face programs led by qualified

facilitators.

From cyber safety to bullying prevention, the incursion will aim to empower our students and staff with tools to prevent bullying.

The workshop will our students to understand what bullying is, the different types, and how it affects others. They will also learn practical ways to recognise and handle bullying while discovering how bystanders can play a key role in making positive change.

Education Week - Open Morning

It was great to see our families visit last Friday for our Open Morning!

Simultaneous Storytime

As part of Education Week our students engaged with the text, The Truck Cat as a part of National Simultaneous Storytime. The aim of National Simultaneous Storytime is to promote reading and literacy; and teach students the value and fun of books.

Our English Leader, Ekam was recorded reading the story and this was shared across the school. After reading the book, students participated in a range of activities to explore and celebrate the themes of the text, including connection and belonging.

Professional Learning

Today our staff participated in professional learning during the Curriculum Day. The focus of our learning included how we teach students affected by trauma, presented by psychologist Liska Benton and the Australian Childhood Foundation.

We also spent some of the day continuing our learning about the teaching of the new Mathematics and Literacy curriculum and planning together using assessment data.

Student Free Day

Next Friday 6th June is also a student-free day. It is the Friday before the long weekend, so the Monday 9th June is a student-free day for the Public Holiday. This is a professional practice day for our teaching staff. Team Kids are taking bookings for this day.

Professional Practice days provide teachers with release from their scheduled duties to focus on the improved delivery of high quality teaching and learning. The Victorian Government Schools Agreement 2022 provides teachers with one professional practice day each year.

Supervision Arrangements

Student safety at Clyde Primary School is our highest priority and the safe and appropriate supervision of students is an important element of our duty of care to students. Part of this duty is ensuring parents and students are aware of our student supervision arrangements before and after school.

Before school: School grounds are supervised from 8.50am to 9am each morning. Staff supervise at the main gate, outside the office and the Foundation gate.

After school: School grounds are supervised from 3.30pm-3.45pm each afternoon. Staff supervise at the main gate, outside the office and the Foundation gate.

Students on school grounds outside these times will not be supervised unless they are attending Team Kids.

E-Scooter Rules

Please be aware that new e-scooter rules have come into affect in Victoria and that children under the age of 16 are not permitted to ride them.

They are also not permitted to be ridden on footpaths.

Because of this e-scooters should not be ridden to or from school by any student.
