SOCIAL WALKING GROUP
As part of the Walk This Way project, fun footpath activity stickers have been installed in front of schools and kinders, as well as around the Echuca East Recreation Reserve to encourage locals to get involved in activities such as hopscotch, jump from square to square, and balance along the line to increase incidental activity whilst having some fun!
Healthy Loddon Campaspe visited local schools and kinders during the planning process for the project, where students voted on their favourite activities for their town. We'd love to know what your favourite is!
Hello Echuca East Primary School,
I am Mekaela Kraan a Mal Whyte Rover Scout from Echuca and I am writing to you to invite your School to participate in the Echuca's 3rd ANZAC Vigil 2025.
I hope to get many organisations and schools represented in this years vigil, formally a ‘Holding Ground’ Ceremony (a night-long, guard of honour around the historic War Memorial in Echuca) from 6.00 pm to 6.00 am between ANZAC Eve and ANZAC Morning, and just prior to dawn the guards step down and the Dawn Service follows.
The Anzac Eve Youth Vigil stems from the military tradition of ‘holding ground’ whereas by a reconnaissance patrol would find and hold strategic position in preparation for the arrival of their army.
This would often involve an all-night vigil, keeping awake on watch, alert that the area of battle is secured against threat.
Instruction on holding ground will be given before hand on the night.
If you are interested please contact echuca.vigil@outlook.com to book yourself a time.
Kind regards,
Mekaela Kraan.
