Specialist Team

PE

We have had an exciting start to the year in Physical Education! The senior school have been learning all about the ‘summer sports’ in line with our interschool sport program. They have attended interschool sport each Friday morning to practise against other schools, in the lead up to the Summer Sport Lightning Premiership. We are super proud of all students who participated and congratulations to the Boys Volleyball team and Girls Cricket team who are district champions after winning on the day! Also shout out to the Girls Basketball and Boys Cricket team, who came runners-up!

The middle school has been learning all about invasion games. We have practised a variety of skills and applied them into some modified games that replicate invasion sports; such as football, soccer, basketball and netball. The juniors have been practising the fundamental movement skills through a variety of social games, and the preps have been learning all about participating in PE at OPPS!

The term was capped off with an amazing House Cross Country day, we are super proud of all students who ran the cross country course!

Looking forward to some big events in PE next term, including district cross country, winter sport and House Athletics!

Performing Arts

What an exciting term it has been in Performing Arts! Mrs. Downie and Mrs. Banfield are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and dedication shown by all students as they rehearsed for our upcoming school show. From learning lines and choreography to building confidence on stage, every student put in their best effort, and it has been wonderful to see their creativity shine.

To celebrate the end of a fantastic term, some students had the opportunity to dress up and dance, bringing energy and joy to our final lessons. It was a fun way to wrap up a term filled with hard work, teamwork, and lots of laughs.

Prep B enjoying the last session of term!

As we head into the holidays, we hope everyone enjoys a well-earned break. Next term, we will continue refining our performances, adding the finishing touches, and getting ready to showcase the students’ hard work in the school show. We can’t wait to see it all come together in Term 2! Please don’t forget, the show is on Friday June 27th at Beaconhills Berwick campus.

Thank you to all students for their passion and commitment – we are so excited for what’s to come!

STEM

This Term in STEM was very exciting! Everyone had the opportunity to perform an investigation from making slime, and playdough to testing how much oxygen fire requires!

It was the term of exploring engineering from building with cardboard to using Lego, all had fun! Students had the opportunity to develop their technology skills and complete challenges such as making Bunjil the Bird in Minecraft or coding games using artificial intelligence in Scratch Lab.

I hope everyone has a fabulous holiday with all of your loved ones! See you next Term :)
