Term 2 Week 2

Welcome back to Term Two!

We have been busy as usual down in Music. All students in the Junior School have been, and will continue to play rhythms using percussion instruments.

Prep's have been playing along with our skeleton conductor - very fun!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSefoqSUm7w

They have also been singing a variety of nursery rhymes and adding the percussion instruments in too.

Year One's have been playing drums, castanets, symbols and tambourines as they're the 'most common' current percussion instruments we have at Skye to connect to the Ancient Egypt learning. We have been playing along to sphinx (ta), pharoah (ti-ti) and pyramid (tika ti) rhythms. Students will begin to create their own patterns for all to play.

Year Two's have brainstormed a list of vocab related to Ancient Greece and added their corresponding rhythms. They will rehearse their little pieces next week as a group and them perform them to the class. We will create class slides and play out way through each rhythm using percussion instruments.

I am still on the hunt for any paper towel cylinders. If you have any laying around I would love to take them off your hands, I'm looking for 80-100 so the Year One's can make instruments! Thank you.

SKYE FOOTY LEAGUE : ROUND 4 REVIEW

Game 1 – Mavericks & Fireballs : The Mavericks came out firing in the first quarter, but kept kicking points. Fireballs ran the ball to the other end and kicked straight. 2nd quarter was the same with Fireballs adding another goal, plus another in the 3rd to hold a handy 9 point led at 3/4 time. Indi kicked a fantastic super goal in the last to level the scores, then Quinci kicked the reply to seal victory for Fireballs.
