Dear Skye Families,
Welcome to Term 2! I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful holiday break and made the most of the additional public holidays last week. Our students have made an extremely positive start and have hit the ground running with impressive levels of concentration and focus in the classroom.
Kim, Gareth and I have had a lovely time this week catching up with Year 5 and Year 6 classes to discuss their attitudes to school. It's important to deeply understand how students are feeling about key areas within our school including safety, teaching and learning practices, bullying, and emotional awareness.
These discussions, coupled with the formal annual 'Student Attitudes to School Survey,' provide us with critical information that we can use to maintain areas of strength and work towards improving any areas of concern. Our students have shown an impressive ability to articulate their experiences and provide insightful feedback that will help shape our school environment.
Our school will be open again tomorrow for Election Day voting. If you haven't cast your vote yet, please make it down for a democracy sausage and support the local Skye CFA who will be running the barbecue. It's a good opportunity to fulfill your civic duty while supporting our local community.
We're excited for our upcoming event to celebrate all the mums and special carers of Skye with a special breakfast next Friday, 9th May. After tucking in to a delicious breaky, we invite all the mums and carers to join us in classrooms where we have activities set up to participate in with your children. A huge thanks to our PTF Committee for organising this event. For more information, head over the 'Parent Information' page.
We are now accepting enrolments for our 2026 Foundation year. Please visit our website for more information or pick up a hard copy of the enrolment forms at the school office. We encourage you to share this information with friends and family who are considering joining our community. Early enrolments help us with our planning and ensure a smooth transition for our newest students. For current families, you are guaranteed a place here at our school for younger siblings, however you are still required to complete an enrolment form before the 25th July to secure a place and participate in Transition.
Have a great fortnight!
Warm regards,
Tim
