Literacy:
Throughout Term Two we will focusing on a number of areas such as exploring non-fiction texts, how to write explanations as well as lots of sentence level work and grammar.
This week our mentor text is 'Walk of the Whales' by Nick Bland. The students have worked on how to write facts down based on research along with learning about a variety of whale species!
See some of the beautiful work below:
Numeracy:
This term we will continue our work on multiplication and division, fractions and data representations. We will also continue our work on time. You can help your child at home by practising their skip counting and telling time on analogue clocks, using counting by 5's to count minutes. See some helpful sites below:
Inquiry:
This term we will be learning all about our 'Blue Marble' which explores our world and how fragile our animals and ecosystems are. The students will particuarly focus on conservation and will address the following key questions:
Our excursion to Moonlit will help us discover and explore answers to these questions.
Wellbeing:
This term we will continue our work on the School Wide Positive Behaviour Statements (SWPBS) as well as work in Respectful Rights and Relationships. Our first topic is Positive coping, which teaches our students to be resilient, respectful and aware of our own needs and how to manage them.
We started our term by paying our respects to those who have served and are currently serving our country. We read the book ANZAC Ted which is a moving story. See the beautiful artwork below which can also be seen hanging in the patch/breakfast club area.
Any students wishing to participate in this years 3/4 Hoop-time competition can register by completing the permission form sent out last week via the QKR app.
This year our Hoop-time competition will be held on Thursday the 29th of May at Jubilee Park Stadium.
We are hoping to take as many teams as possible and encourage anyone to get involved no matter how much basketball experience you have previously.
