Achievements & Results

Senior Boys  Cricket

The Senior Boys Cricket team had an impressive run in the round robin tournament, competing against schools such as Good News, Al-Taqwa and Werribee Secondary in which they came out victorious.

These wins secured them a spot in the next round where they were up against Homestead and Belmont, continuing their momentum from the previous games they remained victorious. These wins allowed them to secure a well deserved spot in the WMR Final. The team were up against Maribyrnong in the final and despite them giving hundred percent and fighting to the last ball, unfortunately they narrowly missed the title, finishing as runner-ups in the competition.

A big thank you to Mr.Sipala for taking his time to guide and coach the team throughout the tournament and also to Mr.Luci and Mr.Haslinger for supporting us and making sure that everything ran smoothly. Despite not bringing home the title the boys came away with some great memories.

Intermediate Mixed Volleyball

The intermediate mixed volleyball team played at the inter school tournament on the 7th of March. The team won a total of three out of four games and placed 5th out of 11 schools at the end of the day. Before our matches, we observed the other teams that played and the team was getting nervous as the other teams looked like they had powerful and skilled players. However, everyone put it behind them and went into the matches, more determined than ever. Everyone cooperated and worked well together, communicating with each other and calling for the ball.

I would like to thank my team, Joshua Metcalf, Lakshya Pratti, Shayan Choudhury, Shenuka Liyanage, Tenzin Tsangpa and Armaan Pethe for attending and doing the best you could. I would also like to thank Jacquelyn Le for helping out with being the co-captain and motivating the team. I would also like to thank Ms Hung for holding and supervising the volleyball clubs on Fridays and Ms Lam for coming along with the team on the day.

I thank everyone again for trying their best on the day and I look forward to being captain and playing with everyone again next year!

Sincerely,

Nathi Chote (Volleyball Intermediate Captain) (B9)

Senior Girls Volleyball

On Thursday March the 13th, the Year 11 and Year 12 girls went to compete in the inter school Senior Volleyball Tournament after a term of dedicated morning and afterschool practices. Everyone adjusted to their assigned positions very well and took learning on at every level. The first match against Good News College only highlighted the team’s determination and resilience as we won the game. Although the following games did not end in victory, the girls played with courage and enthusiasm, which led to long and great rallies and intelligent points scored on the court. I couldn’t have asked for a better team to play with this year!

Thank you to all the girls who tried their very best and put in all their effort throughout the day including Annakita Dowling, Athira Siarot, Ayana Jassal, Dhriti Amin, Kalista Langley, Kavya Parajiya, Martina Magallanes, Rachel Lee and Roxanne King. I would also like to give a very big and special thanks to Miss Hung who sacrificed many of her Friday afternoons and Tuesday mornings so that we had the opportunity to practice and play. We couldn’t have done any of this without you Miss!

We hope to see this hard work and dedication extend to the 2026 Senior Volleyball Girls competition.

Sincerely,

Bea Payla (Volleyball Girls Captain) (K1)

Senior Boys Volleyball

On the 13th of March, the senior boys had our annual inter school competition. The day began with high spirits and higher hopes, the team could not have been more excited to play. The team had put in an incredible amount of effort training before and after school. We played a total of 3 games, 2 in our groups and 1 finals game. Our first game was against Werribee and we won in a swift 2-0. Following this victory, we immediately played the Grange. They are the reigning champions and regularly play against the best schools in Australia, which made this match all the more daunting. We fought tooth and nail in the first set, dragging them all the way to 18-20. However, we could not hold on as they pulled away from us to also take the next set and end the game.

Even with this loss, we managed to finish 4th overall, ensuring that we would be able to play finals. We faced off against the 1st place team, Tarneit. We comfortably won the first set, however the team started to feel the effects of fatigue at this point and began to slow down considerably. We ended up losing the second and third sets by only 2 points. This loss resulted in a 3rd place finish overall. This is an amazing result from the team.

We are incredibly grateful to the teachers who came to inter school with us, Mr Moden and especially Ms Hung for also facilitating and supervising all the training sessions. I would like to personally congratulate the team for their commitment and hope that their futures in volleyball remain bright!

Inter & Senior House Sport Update (Volleyball)

2025 marked the return of our cherished House Sport program, which provides students opportunities to compete within their houses for points that eventually go towards the House Cup.  House sport was previously in the format of Seniors only (Year 11s and 12s). However, this year also saw the introduction of Intermediate lunchtime sport, which runs in a very similar format, yet opens opportunities to participate in Sport for the younger year levels (Year 9s and 10s). The sport chosen for Term 1 was Volleyball, and we can wholeheartedly say that it was a huge success.. While running initial fixtures was a huge learning curve for the captains, we settled into the process fairly quickly, came to enjoy the intense and thrilling match-ups that awaited every Monday and Thursday lunchtime (with some comebacks from almost 10 points down!). In the end for the Intermediates, Blackwood came out victorious 25-19 against Rothwell, and for the Seniors, it was Apollo that defeated Kororoit in a thriller going to 25-22. Congratulations to the champions, and we wish to thank anyone that showed up to participate, or watch.

Soccer will be the next sport for Term 2, so keep your eyes out for sign-ups and information from your house sports captains, and we can’t wait to see you there.

Your Whole School Sport Captains,

Adi (B1) and Priyanka (A1)
