Principal's Report

Tim Furphy, Principal

And just like that, Term One is officially almost over. A reminder for all families we have an assembly tomorrow at 2:00pm followed by an early finish at 2:30pm. I wish everyone a happy, safe and enjoyable upcoming holidays. I look forward to returning in a couple of weeks to see our "campers" off and juniors into their classroom.

At this weeks School Council meeting members voted to elect a president, vice president, treasurer and secretary. They are as follows:

School Council President - Shey Newitt

School Council Vice President - Chris Wiseman

School Council Treasurer - Tanya Mouyat

School Council Secretary - Narelle Reino

Next term we begin with the Grade 2-6 camp to Philip Island in the first week. I know this will be an exciting time for students, as well as a nerve-wracking experience for some. Staff are very much looking forward to the fun activities planned and are absolutely capable to support your little ones to have the most amazing camp experience.

Over the last fortnight you would have seen increased activity in our carpark and around our buildings, as well as on our roof. These works on our 'Shelter in Place' building will continue through the holidays and into next term.

Cross Country

Firstly, thanks for the parents that came out to volunteer and support at Hanging Rock on Tuesday. It was great to see many of you there on such a beautiful day at "The Rock". Thanks to Libby for her work in organising the event, theres quite a few organisational things that are required to get our kids out on an excursion. Monique & Gen (placement students), as well as Jasmine stood on various corners along the track to guide students the right way. A lonely day out there on their own but a very important role to maintain the safety of our kids, thankyou! Lastly, well done to ALL participants. Whether walking or running, it was great to see you test yourself. We made the track slightly different to last year, meaning an extra hill near the beginning but everyone took it in thier stride and put thier best foot forward. Well done!!! Please see photos on the "School Events" page of our day out.

It includes photos of our "bark pickup" at the end of the day. To support Hanging Rock we asked our students (under the direction of the Park Ranger) to collect as much bark as they could to pile up ready to be mulched and used as weed suppression. Whilst its fun to get out their for Cross Country, its important for us to help our community when we can!

Schools Out

We are seeing an increase in family's book SchoolsOut, then fail to turn up. This creates confusion for Ash trying to find children at the end of the day who have already been picked up. Please be mindful of this when booking and cancel when your child will not be attending. At this stage School Out have been very kind to not charge families in this instance, instead it falls back for the school to pay. Please be considerate of Ash and cancel where appropriate to ensure the transition for those attending is as smooth as possible.
