Cross Country
The Oberon High School Cross Country and Colour Run Carnival took place on Monday, March 31, (despite some unfavourable weather—though it certainly could have been worse!) it was overall a fun and actioned-packed day.
Throughout the day, students brought great energy and enthusiasm, not only in their races but also in a variety of activities, including sack races, three-legged races, downball, and dodgeball competitions. A major highlight, as always, was the coloured powder stations, where only the bravest runners dared to push through the teachers’ storm of colour! Congratulations to the following students who placed in the top three for their gender and age group (attached).
The top six finishers from each category will go on to compete at the Geelong Cross Country Carnival in Week 6 of Term 2. Well done to all participants for making the day a fun and memorable event!
Western Metro Swimming
On Thursday April 3rd, 10 of Oberon’s best swimmers took on top competition from Geelong-based and Western Metropolitan schools at Kardinia Aquatic Centre. With plenty of talent on display, it was a massive achievement that every Oberon swimmer secured a top-three placing in at least one event—a huge testament to their efforts given the high level of competition. Well done to Luke, Matthew and Sophie Gilbert, Isla Hassett, Ben and Josh Hirst, Jarvis Jory, Salita Smith, and Zali Stiles for their efforts across multiple events.
A special congratulations goes to Taryn Aldred of Year 9, who has progressed to the State Finals at MSAC in Week 2 of Term 2, after winning both her 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle events. Best of luck to Taryn in the State Finals!
