Year Three
Dear Year Three Parents and Guardians,
Welcome back! We hope you had a restful and enjoyable break and are feeling refreshed and ready for an exciting Term 2. It’s wonderful to see our students returning with energy, enthusiasm, and a positive mindset for the term ahead.
Reading:
In Reading, students explored the skill of Visualising using their five senses and details from different texts. They created their own visualisations and brainstormed key words to describe their thinking. We are now exploring the skill of Predicting before, during and after reading to build on our comprehension abilities in fiction texts.
Writing:
In Writing, we have revised the narrative writing structure with a focus on expanding our ideas.
Making connections to our Second Unit of Inquiry, "Patterns in nature inspire creativity," students have used famous artworks to promote their thinking when creating a narrative.
Numeracy:
In Numeracy, students have been exposed to Place Value. We have been exploring odd and even numbers and making, naming and creating different numbers. Students are now exploring if numbers are greater than or less than, based on each digits individual place.
Inquiry
As part of our provocation for our new Unit of Inquiry “Patterns in nature inspire creativity,”
we recently visited the Crocodile Park, where students had a firsthand opportunity to observe the unique patterns found in the natural world. Students have started exploring the many ways natural patterns can spark imagination, design, and problem-solving. Back in the classroom, this experience has sparked a wave of creativity. Students are now exploring how these patterns can be expressed through art and are developing their own patterned artworks.

Technology and Preparation:
Please ensure iPads are fully charged before bringing them to school
Students should arrive prepared and ready to learn
Additionally, our school day begins at 8:30am, with classroom doors opening at 8:20am. This early access allows students time to settle in and prepare for their learning. This is a crucial time of the day that prepares students for a successful and engaging day.
If a student arrives after 8:40am, they must sign in at the school office and obtain a late pass. This helps us maintain accurate attendance records and minimise classroom disruption.
