Science News

The science room has been a buzz of excitement with the Grade 5 and Grade 6 students working on their projects. This term they have been learning about and simulating volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, cyclones and droughts. Over the last few weeks, students have consolidated and extended their learning by choosing a group project; either build an earthquake proof 3 story building, build a hurricane proof house, or create a volcanic eruption news report. Students had criteria and constraints to adhere to, and spent time researching and designing their structures. Students then built and tested their structures and it was great to see the planning and teamwork come together. Next lesson, students will evaluate their projects and learnings for the term.
