Performing Arts News

Hi Tarneit Rise families, we hope you’re keeping warm and well as we move into the final few weeks of Term 2.

Prep students have entered their final few weeks of their first semester of Performing Arts. We are wrapping up our first ever semester of Performing Arts learning by creating our very own music video! Students began by working with their teacher to write a song about why they love learning Performing Arts. They then chose what actions to include in their videos. We look forward to sharing these with you. Congratulations to the grade Preps on finishing their first semester on Performing Arts!

This fortnight grade 1 and 2 students have been introduced to another engaging type of Puppetry - Ventriloquism! Students have been challenging themselves to use their ventriloquism voices when using their puppet characters. This involves keeping your mouth closed while making your vocal sounds to give the impression that your puppet is talking. It is a fun and challenging technique. Ventriloquism also gives students the opportunity to develop their puppetry and performance skills in front of an audience.

Our grade 3 and 4 students have been diving into the world of improvisation games this fortnight. Over the past few weeks, they've been honing their quick thinking and collaborative skills through engaging activities like ‘Yes, And…’, ‘Bus Stop’, and ‘Space Jump’. These games not only encourage spontaneity and imagination but also foster teamwork and confidence in our budding actors. It's been wonderful to see their growth as they embrace new characters and scenarios.

Grade 5 and 6 have been very excited to complete their film making units. They have been using their story and shot outlines to film the scenes for their film. They have had the chance to use their new skills in camera shots and angles, and through this hands-on experience, students have not only honed their storytelling abilities but also gained valuable teamwork and problem-solving skills. We look forward to seeing the final product!
