Community Learning Project

This project originates from a Department of Education school called the School for Student Leadership (SSL).  The school has 4 campuses, this year in term 1, 6 year 9 students from Bairnsdale Secondary College students attended the Snowy River Campus for 8 weeks.  While the students were at the school they were tasked with creating and managing a project that would benefit, bring together and/or showcase our local community.

On the 10th August we invite the Bairnsdale community to come along and celebrate our project.  12 community groups/schools have been involved in the project:

• St Mary's Primary School
• Bairnsdale West Primary School
• Playful Paws
• SES
• Bairnsdale Lions Club
• GEAGAC
• GLaWAC
• CFA
• Bairnsdale Primary School
• Bairnsdale Arts Centre
• Lucknow Primary School

Each group has been provided with a puzzle piece to paint in a way which reflects their history in Bairnsdale or how their organisation contributes to the wider community.  When all the puzzle pieces are joined together it will become a mural which will be displayed in our town.

At our unveiling event on 10th  of August each group will present their puzzle piece and provide a little information about themselves.  The Bairnsdale Lions Club will also provide a free sausage sizzle on the day.
