Kokoda

Year 11 students, Logan, Grace, Tilly, Perry, Rose, Andrew and Connor over the holidays, completed the life changing 8-day Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea.  The annual educational experience is made available to local scholarship winners through the generous donations of local sponsors.

The students, after following the footsteps of East Gippslanders during World War 2, have a new understanding around the challenges that were faced. The students now become Kokoda Ambassadors for 12 months.

State Cross Country

Senior students Campbell, Patrick and Rita represented our College in the Cross Country State Championship in Melbourne.  The course was very muddy and a little slow. Well done!

Year 12 Biology excursion

On Thursday 18th July, the Year 12 Biology class attended workshops at the University of Melbourne exploring evolution of characteristics in Drosophila flies and ELISA techniques used to detect the flu virus which both relate to our Unit 4 coursework. The students really enjoyed using the University lab equipment and collecting data for a future SAC.

Following the workshops we took a tour of the Parkville campus guided by 2 of their current students. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to see the different facilities on offer and how Uni life works through lectures and tutorials.

The students also enjoyed some time learning how to find their way around the CBD of Melbourne and use the trams to move to and from locations which didn’t always go to plan.

Job Skills Expo Lardner Park Warragul

Year 10 students were invited to attend the biggest Careers Expo in Gippsland, with over 100 exhibitors. Students who attended gained knowledge into many different career options and skills development in local industries.

Year 11 Business Management

On the 27th of June, through the treacherous rain the Year 11 Business Management classes visited Peter Dullard Ford for a tour with Ben. During the excursion Ben spoke to us about the automotive industries manufacturing and assembly process. The tour also emphasized the importance of quality control and provided insights into various roles within the company. He also spoke about the business's operations, the ins and outs of running his business and what he has learnt along the way. Finally, we discovered the Dullard Ford’s commitment to sustainability and innovation through their efforts to develop in the electric vehicle market and how to keep the business moving into the future. Overall, the excursion was beneficial to see how a working business operates and how different factors can impact them.

VCE Systems Engineering

The students in VCE Systems Engineering have been researching, designing, and building boats built solely on Solar power.  This week we built a ‘river’ and got to test, iterate, and improve the designs.  There are some really fun designs.
