Regional Cross Country

Congratulations to Claude M who came 11th place in Regionals Cross Country at Kilmore Racing Club yesterday. He is through to State Championships. Go Claude!

Winter Interschool Sport Gala

Netball

On Thursday last week we participated in the netball tournament during Gala Day. We went to the Fairlea reserve netball courts in Yarra Park. There were 8 schools participating in the event. Carlton North had 2 teams; A and B, which were determined based on a series of gradings conducted by the PE teacher, Chris. Both teams played extremely well but at the end of an enjoyable, lively day, the B team won 2, lost 2 and tied one game and the A team won all 6 games advancing them into the semi finals. In the semi finals the A team played Fitzroy North Primary and won fairly easily. Then in the finals we played Fitzroy Community School. In the first quarter we were losing 6 to 0, but at the end of the game we took home the flag with a win of 13 to 9. Overall it was an amazing day and an even better experience. 

Soccer

Gala day started off with an encouraging talk from our coach and tips from Jimmy. The first game started off with us playing against Princes Hill. The ref was very fair to both teams. The kids from Princes Hill were very nice and supportive. All the other games were mostly the same with very nice and fun teams to play with. At the end of the day we watched the final and had a lot of fun.

 AFL    

A team: We played 6 games on gala day. We won the first game against Spensley Street by 54 points to 0 points.  Then we played Merri Creek who knocked us out of the grand final last year by 0.1  percent. We beat them 36 to 9. Next we played Fitzroy North and lost by 6 points, then we played Princes Hill and won by 44. Our last game was against Fitzroy North B-team and we lost by ten points which was very disappointing. They knocked us out of the grand final to Merri Creek once again by 1 percent, Merri Creek went on to win the grand final.

B team: We played 6 games, Merri Creek Bs- we won by 56 with the help of five A team substitutes. Next we played Princes Hill  and won 9 to 8. Then we played Carlton Gardens which we won by 18 points. Next up and the last game of the round robin was Spensley Street. We won that by 54 points still going undefeated. We played Merri creek  in the grand final and won by 35!

T-Ball

On Thursday 13th of June, the grade 5/6s of Merri Creek, Fitzroy north, Princes Hill, Spencley St, Carlton Gardens and C.N.P.S competed in the winter sports gala day. We are Viv and Jaydon, and we are from Team A T-ball, here to explain how our T-ball team’s day went. We played 9 games, won 6 and drew 1, which put us in 3rd place, with Merri Creek in 1st, and Princes Hill in 2nd. It was enjoyable, but there was rain, which made things difficult. The rain made the grass very wet, so some of us kept slipping. We also had a B team, and unfortunately, they lost all their games, but they kept on trying, so three cheers for them. The next paragraph is a quick explanation of T-ball.

T-ball is a sport like baseball, except there is no pitcher. There is a tee where you hit the ball off with a bat, then you run to first base, which is a safe space where you can stop running, there are three bases and one home base, if you can run to home base, then you get a home run. If you run and the first base catcher gets the ball before you put your foot on first base, then you are out.
