Year 5/6 Team News

with Laura, Christina, Emil, Molly, Bianca I, Kayleen, Steven & Melati

Hello Year 5/6 families,

Literacy

In Writing, students are finishing their biographies about famous Australians. This week students will be focusing on the revision of past spelling words to ensure that they have consolidated their learning. As we approach the school holidays, we encourage families to continue reading together. Visit the Williamstown Library to find new and exciting reading materials. Happy reading!

Numeracy

We are continuing to work on the four operations to revise how we can efficiently add, subtract, multiply and divide whole, negative and decimal numbers. We will continue revision of this in the first week back next term. Over the holidays, it is vital that students continue to rehearse their timetables at home.

Inquiry

Next Thursday, June 27th, the 5/6 Election Expo will be taking place. As part of the expo, students will be engaging with visiting classes to encourage them to vote for their "party" in that day's election. You are invited to attend the Expo in the 5/6 Gallery between 3:15 PM and 3:45 PM.

Respectful Relationships

This term we will be looking at the following Child Safe topics: Body Ownership & Private Zones, Safe and Unsafe Touch, Saying No and Child Abuse. We advise you to be prepared for questions about this content at home.

Warm regards,

The Grade 5/6 Team - Laura Bartholomeusz (5/6B), Christina Crosland (5/6C), Emil de Vries (5/6D), Bianca Italiano & Molly Hedditch (5/6I), Kayleen Dumic & Steven Puhar (5/6K) & Melati Cordell (5/6M)
