Fortnightly Curriculum Focus
Literacy: In Reading, Year 4 students have continued with their novel study of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone written by JK Rowling. Students will be watching this movie in the last week of term as an end to our unit. Students have continued their research and have started to publish information about their Changemaker. More information will be coming out in regards to the expo early next term.
Numeracy: In Numeracy, Year 4 students have enjoyed working with financial maths, exploring the concepts of change and planning a party with a budget. Students have used websites to understand the pricing of different items in order to stick to their budget. Students continuing into weeks 10 & 11 have been reflecting over their number pattern skills, understanding patterns can have a variety of rules to them. Students are continuing to use online programs such as Essential Assessment, reinforcing skills whilst targeting specific individual goals
Inquiry: Students have thoroughly enjoyed researching for their Changemaker units. Students have researched different questions in regards to who their changemaker is or was, what impacts they’ve made on the future and any notable achievements that have facilitated their success. This will be presented at the beginning of next term, more information will be provided as families are welcomed to attend.
Willy Kids & Respectful Relationships:
Our fortnightly focus has been: Willy Kids sare Reflective Learners. Students have reflected on their time about camp, writing and visually representing their time away at camp, thinking about their most challenging moments and how they felt on camp. Students were able to share these with each other, reflecting on this experience to be a great accomplishment by all.
