Class 17

Class 17 has had a great term 2 with everyone developing both in their learning and their student relationships with each other. Some of the highlights include our vegie garden, which under the regular weekly attention of our class has finally produced real, fully grown vegetables. We’ve also enjoyed some fun educational excursions such as ordering and paying for our own lunch at a local fish and chip. We created our own Classroom Market Stall where we learned how to be both a shopkeeper and a shopper, using points for money, which we earned by doing weekly exercises and other classroom chores. Then we finished off with our Camp Manyung experience where we faced challenging and bonding activities like the ropes course, zip line and the giant swing. It was a really rewarding experience where we learned a lot about ourselves and how to work together and even made a few new friends!

This term we have been establishing routines and approaching learning tasks with enthusiasm. We have been working on our resilience and organizational skills making sure we are ready to learn and challenge ourselves. We were extremely impressed by the enthusiasm and positivity the students brought with them to school camp at Camp Manyung in Mount Eliza. There were many new challenges and experiences, and we were delighted by the students ‘have a go’ attitude.

We began to access the school canteen at Dromana High School and worked on being prepared and confident. Our excursion to Dromana also worked on developing these skills and the students took to the challenge with interest and confidence. We had many cooking experiences in the classroom that focused on simple recipes that the students could prepare at home. The students went on many bush walks in the Dromana reserve tackling the hills and uneven tracks with confidence. Thank you for your donations to our indoor class market.

Looking forward to term 3!
