Before, After and Holiday Care @ St Mary's

Hello Friends and Families,

We are so excited to share with you all what we have been getting up to at TheirCare these last few weeks. Further to this we are so excited to share with you some new updates about the upcoming Holiday Program.

Week 9 – ‘Red Carpet’

Around the service we always hear and participate in conversations about “Famous People” we see in the Media. This ranges from conversations about singers such as Taylor Swift all the way through to Cartoon TV Show Characters such as Chase from Paw Patrol. It always bring a sense of joy to the room. Therefore, this week our newest theme was set as ‘Red Carpet’. On Monday, the children got the hands sticky and made their very own paper star sunglasses. They decorated their glasses with a range of art mediums such as glitter, sequins and pom poms. On Tuesday, the children engaged in tactile play and used Playdough to make Hollywood Stars and Animals. It was amazing to see how intricate the children’s designs became. On Wednesday the children considered how life would be if they were famous by playing a new game ‘On Mute’ where you are “live broadcasting” to an audience. On Thursday the weather meant we had to remain inside however the children found fun in playing a game of Dragon’s Nest and Run If! We ended our week on Friday by making another form of Hollywood Stars which was very exciting for the children. It was all glitter and fun! We also watched Alvin and The Chipmunks Shipwrecked as the Chipmunks singing and dancing slotted in perfectly with our weeks theme.

Week 10 – ‘Slumber Party’

Coming into the colder months of the year, it is safe to say that we would all love to be cuddled up at home in a warm house and our PJs. Therefore, this week’s theme of ‘Slumber Party’ was just the perfect fit for the weather. On Monday the children made their very own Movie posters. They got to resource their creativity and create a poster of the dream movie they would like to see. Some children even decided that they would make movies about themselves. On Tuesday, the fun continued as the children decorated some mini mirrors. They used a range of art mediums such as sequins and pom poms to finalise and personalise their design to their likes and dislikes. This fun then continued into Wednesday when the children got creative making some Friendship bracelets. They all sat around the one table sharing beads and stories as they made these and it was so special to see. Each child was so encouraging of one another, and it made for a lovely afternoon. On Thursday, the children will be offered the opportunity to engage in a game of ‘This or That’ whilst also making personalised letter posters. We will then end our Slumber Party week on Friday by making some Sidewalk Chalk Paper Craft.

Sun Safety

Being in Term 2, we would like to reassure all parents and guardians that we closely monitor the Temperature and UV Rays before engaging in outdoor play and Hats are worn as required. Further to this we continue to ensure that sunscreen is always applied, if your child requires a specific sunscreen, please do not hesitate to let us know so that we can accommodate for this!

Holiday Program

Holiday Program is only one week away, and we can’t even begin to explain how excited we are to explore the two-week theme of ‘Time Warp.’ Bookings for the daily programs are well untruly open on FullyBooked. We have some amazing excursions these Holidays whereby we will be going to the Melbourne Museum 3D Dinosaur Exhibition, Roller Skating, SuperPark as well as going to the Movies to see Inside Out 2! As always, there is also many ‘In House’ days with ranging themes branching from Science, Craft and Sports for the children to enjoy. We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible ready to explore this wonderful Time Warp.

Many Thanks,

Swaye and Ellie
