Groovy Gardeners

Recently we have planted violet seedlings and transplanted daffodil and jonquil bulbs in our flower garden. There is such a joyous energy at these gardening gatherings.

Many thanks to Julia Dennis for donating flower and vegetable seedlings for the girls to plant.

We welcome all cottage plant cuttings, flower and vegetable seeds and seedlings. Please contact Karen Giudici for more information.

Laudato Si

Earlier in the month, I met Jacqui Redmond, a previous director  of  Catholic  Earthcare Australia and current lecturer at ACU. Jacqui is a keen advocate  of sustainability and very active with  the  Laudate Si Movement.

Laudate Si is the  name of a letter written by Pope Francis to all people in the  world exhorting us to care for the planet and the marginalised.

Waste Collection Around the College

In Term Three, the College is aiming to introduce significant changes to our waste collection.

  • All organic waste will be combined at school and collected by the Hobart City Council (HCC).
  • All waste paper and cardboard will be collected and recycled.
  • All recyclables will also be collected.

The remaining waste will be collected in bins labelled 'Landfill' and will also be collected by HCC.

Of course, this will only work well if everyone makes an effort to change their habits as to which bin they use. Staff around the College will assist students with this change in an attempt to send less rubbish to landfill.
