Holy Cross Happenings

District Netball

On Friday the 14th, the Year 5 & 6 children went to Boardman Stadium in Sunbury for District Netball. We started the day with a briefing with all the other schools, then headed off to start warm ups and prepare for the first game.

Girl's A Team:

We ended up being undefeated in our pool and made it to the grand final against St Brigid's.  We won the Grand final by 2 points. We made it to Division Netball which will be coming up next term. All the girls did amazing with great teamwork, flexibility with changing positions and encouragement.

Girl's B Team:

The Girl's B team were also very successful, winning all their games except for one. The girls had a great day with smiles on their faces. Well done girls on a wonderful day of positivity and excellent sportsmanship.

Boy's Team:

The Boys team had an outstanding day, winning all their games. The boys showed great teamwork and encouragement towards each other and heaps of flexibility and positivity. The boys versed Braemar in the Grand Final, but unfortunately lost by 2 points. Overall the boys had an amazing day and were very proud of themselves. A big thank you to Mrs Sullivan, Mrs McKenna, Elise, Suzy and Casey for coaching and organising the event.

Another Big thank you to Cassie & Dom for washing the netball uniforms, along with all the parents who supported the event on the day.

Year 3 Excursion to Salesian College - Alice in Wonderland

On Thursday the Year 3's went on a Excursion to Salesian. They showed us their 2024 school play and it was Alice in Wonderland. It was a really good show and everybody got a picture with the different animals from the show. The play had two parts to it and all of us had lunch there. Thank you to Miss Merrett, Cailin, Kath and our parent helpers for coming along and supporting the excursion. It was a wonderful day.

Sipping Tea in Outdoor Ed

This term the Prep children investigated plants, including how they grow and what they need to survive and thrive. They also researched the many health benefits of various teas making links to the Health and Wellbeing unit the children explored in Discovery. The children grew mint, spearmint, and chamomile plants. They harvested their leaves or flowers, dried them accordingly, and then transformed them into tea leaves.

To celebrate their learning and to develop an appreciation for the produce they nurtured and grew, the children had the joy of making their own tea alongside their Year 6 buddies. They immersed themselves in the smells, textures and flavours of the leaves and flowers as they brewed their teas. The children were able to express their learning by sipping home-grown teas whilst socialising with friends. Thank you to Caitlyn for planning and facilitating such a well-rounded learning experience for our youngest learners.
