Aoife's Message
Good afternoon Holy Cross families,
We've had a busy Term 2, with many events, learning experiences and moments of connection across our school community. Today our Year 5/6 children led our school by creating wellbeing activities for the Prep - Year 4 children to enjoy in their House groups. These sessions were designed as part of the children's inquiry into what it means to be well. They based the activities on the six pillars of wellness; social, emotional, mental, digital, physical and spiritual. It was a joy to see our whole school spending time together taking care of one another.

Prep 2025
To assist with future planning could I please ask that any current families with a child due to start Prep in 2025 submit enrolment forms as soon as possible.
Semester Two - Parent Engagement sessions
Over the last 18 months we have been establishing and consolidating clear and consistent pedagogy across our school. You may have noticed an emphasis on professional development which involves our whole staff, we are committed to learning as a team to best support children. Much work has been taking place in classrooms and in planning sessions to enhance and improve our practices. Evidence based approaches have been explored, implemented and analysed to ensure we are meeting the needs of children. We would love to invite families to come along to some sessions where we share what's happening across our school. We will be running short sessions during the school day where you are invited to observe learning in action and find out a little more about what happens across our school each day. We understand that sessions during the day may not suit everyone so we will continue to upload videos and photos to Facebook and Instagram to keep everyone in the loop. Seesaw will also be used by class teachers to communicate an aspect of learning each fortnight in Semester Two. This might be a piece of written work or a link to essential assessment data in literacy or numeracy.
Our Parent Engagement sessions will run for approximately 30 minutes and will have the following foci: Maths, Reading, Writing, Discovery, Inquiry and Faith. Our first session will take place on Wednesday 24th July at 9:10am, with a focus on Maths. We look forward to sharing our approaches with you - keep an eye out for further dates and times.
Macedon Ranges Sports Precinct Opening ceremony
Some of our children were invited to play basketball and netball for a short 'display' session as the dignitaries arrived for the official opening of the Sports Precinct this afternoon. How proud I was to accompany this group of children, they organised their own activities and thoroughly enjoyed their time on court. I can't say my goal shooting was a success, however I got plenty of encouragement from this kind and supportive group!
Have a safe and relaxing winter break, see you all next term.
Aoife
All students attending Holy Cross Primary School have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.
