Our Deputy Junior Mayor

On the 25th of June I went to the City of Kingston council chambers to have the official welcome for the new Junior Mayor, Deputy Junior Mayor and the Junior Council for 2024 and 2025. I am the Deputy Junior Mayor and I was going to get my certificate and some photos. I went with my whole family, so we also got some family photos.

When we got to the building it was very breezy and cold, so we straight away rushed in doors. They were revolving doors so my sister had some fun in them. When we entered we were greeted by an official council member, who led us to the council chambers. When we all were seated the Mayor (Jenna Davey-Burns), the Deputy Junior mayor (Tracey Davis) and some more council members came into the room.

They got up to award the outgoing Junior Mayor, Deputy Junior Mayor and the outgoing Junior Council. After they got their certificates and photos it was the new Junior councils turn. They went in the order of the wards, and when I got my certificate they told me I would get my medallion in the first meeting.

After everyone got their photos with the Mayor we all got a big group photo with everyone. Then I got photos with the Outgoing Junior mayor and Deputy Junior Mayor, as well as some photos with the new Junior mayor. After all the photos we went into a different room to eat some dinner. They had all kinds of food, but my favourite were the lemon tarts.

Following that my family got some photos with me and then we were all wrapped up.

It was truly a great experience, and I can't wait to do more with the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and  the Council!

Chocolate Drive

The following information was sent home this week with your chocolate box. Thank you for participating in this fundraising activity!

Dear Parents

We’re about to kick off our term 3 fundraising drive to raise money for our school.

It would be great if you could roll up your sleeves and help. The good news is that this fundraiser is super simple… and delicious!

We’re selling  Cadbury Goodie Boxes which include:

Cadbury Twirls, Cherry Ripes, Twirl Breakaways, Picnics and Frys Turkish Delights

Every box of chocolates we sell will raise $20. So we’re asking all families of our school to sell at least one box for us. Feel free to grab another box if you’ve got lots of hungry buyers lined up!

Boxes will be distributed with the eldest child from each family on Tuesday 25th July.

Tips for selling your treats

  • Each item sells for $1.50 per bar
  • Sell to family members, colleagues, friends or neighbours

Please return your money collected to the office in the envelope provided no later than Thursday 18th July.  A whole box sold will give you $60 cash. If you would prefer to pay directly into the PFA account, please note BSB and account details below. BSB: 083 347  Account Number: 883182134

If you really feel you are unable to sell any chocolates, please return your box tomorrow unopened so that we can reallocate it.

If you’re finding it hard to sell the whole box of treats, please return to the office as other people may be able to help.

We’re confident that this fundraising drive will help us reach our goal of raising

Thank you from the SJV PFA
