Principal's Message

Dear parents and carers,

Last week we held the second School Advisory Council meeting for the year. A gentle reminder that the SAC consists of these people;

Chairperson-Eliza Gallen

Secretary-Gemma Bunner

Parish Priest-Father Abmar

School Team- Jen Honner, Leisa Shortis and Mal Frend

Members-Georgie Rothwell, Agnes Kin, CJ Baldry-Adams, James Harvey, Karen Grimm and Katrina Leven

Members viewed a presentation of Naplan data showing growth in our Yr 5 group from when they were in Year 3. We also looked at the pleasing percentages of Year 3 students in the strong to exceeding bands.

We also viewed the DRAFT of ACS’s response to the newly formed NSW Government Anti-Bullying Policy. This is to be implemented in 2027 although we will be working through the document this year. Our Living Well Learning Well Framework remains the core document for supporting students and families and the new framework fits with it beautifully.

The SAC is preparing a short survey to parents to collect their thoughts and perceptions around all matters SXG. We are excited to hear from our community. We hope the information will give the SAC members the opportunity to build relationships with other parents.

Community, support, interaction, engagement and opportunity.

Positive Partnership Communication

  • Please keep in mind that if you email a staff member they will respond within 24 to 48 hours during the work day.
  • If you send an email during class time it will not be read until the teacher has a break and that might not be until after school.
  • If something is urgent please ring the office and someone will respond asap.
  • The tone of your email is important to us, we are on the same side!
  • We believe every child should be treated with respect and we have processes in place to make sure this happens.

KISS & DROP

The people who get in the line and wait whilst still in Bloomfield Street are going to feel absolutely devastated when they are the cause of a serious accident. And it will happen!

I have been sent photos by concerned community members a number of times now and I see the line each afternoon. Bloomfield Street is a busy street, trucks and buses and cars and our precious children all in one place every afternoon.

The staff keep the line moving as fast as possible. Please drive around the block or come a bit later, DO NOT LINE UP IN BLOOMFIELD STREET, IT IS DANGEROUS.

BUS ZONE

Again, please do not park in the bus zone during bus times. It is so frustrating for the bus drivers who need to be able to pull in safely with a load of our precious children on board.

ATTENDANCE

Please make it a priority to have your children at school every day. Every day counts! Well done to those parents who feel the same.

Kind regards,

Jen
