Grade 6 Camp Reflections
This week, the Grade 6’s went on a city camp at CYC. On the first day, we went ice skating at O’Briens Icehouse, ate lunch, went to Archie Brothers Arcade to play games and laser tag, and then unpacked in our cabins. Finally, we ate dinner, watched a movie, and went to sleep.
When we woke up, we ate breakfast and went to Queen Victoria Market to browse and buy, and then went to Holey Moley in Crown to play mini golf. Next, we ate lunch by the Yarra and went to the park. Lastly, we went out for dinner at Universal Restaurant, and then had ice cream at GLO. Finally, we went back to the hotel and to bed.
On our final morning, we ate breakfast and went to Eureka Tower, Melbourne Skydeck, and admired the view. Next, we went to eat lunch by the Yarra River again and then the park, and then went to pick up our luggage, and finally, took the bus back to school.

Respectful Relationships Focus
Over the next five weeks, our whole school will be exploring Personal and Cultural Strengths as part of the Victorian Curriculum Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships program.
Personal and cultural strengths are the qualities, values, traditions and experiences that make each of us unique. These strengths help shape who we are, how we see the world, and how we connect with others in our community.
Learning about personal and cultural strengths helps children develop a strong sense of identity and belonging. It also encourages respect and appreciation for the diverse backgrounds, cultures and experiences that make up our school community.
Across all year levels, students will participate in age-appropriate lessons that explore:
- Identifying their own personal strengths, interests and qualities
- Recognising the strengths and talents of others
- Exploring family backgrounds, traditions and cultural identities
- Understanding how diversity strengthens our community
- Celebrating similarities and differences in respectful ways
You may hear your child talking about things they are proud of, sharing stories about their family or culture, or recognising strengths they see in their classmates.
Working Together With Families
Children develop a strong sense of identity when their strengths and backgrounds are valued both at school and at home. You might support this learning by:
- Talking about the strengths you see in your child
- Sharing family traditions, stories or cultural experiences
- Encouraging your child to recognise strengths in others
- Celebrating what makes your family unique
By recognising and valuing personal and cultural strengths, we are helping students build confidence, respect for diversity and a strong sense of belonging within our school community.
We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with families as we explore this important learning together.
