Year 1 Walking Excursion

On Friday 29th May, our Year 1 students enjoyed an exciting walking excursion as part of our Inquiry unit, ‘I am a Tourist’. Throughout the term, students have been learning about places, including the natural and constructed features of places, how places change over time, and how they can be cared for. The excursion provided a wonderful opportunity for students to connect their classroom learning to real places within our community.
During the morning, students visited the Vogue Ballroom, where they explored the venue and observed the features both inside and outside the building. They discussed the different celebrations and events that take place there and considered why the venue is an important part of the local community.
Students also visited Village Early Education, where they enjoyed spending time with the younger children. 1E shared the story I Want My Hat Back, while 1A performed the Sound Waves song. To finish the excursion, students walked to Highbury Park where they identified natural and constructed features, enjoyed their snack together, and had fun playing on the playground. It was a magnificent morning of learning, exploration and community connection, and the students represented our school beautifully.
