CHRISTMAS LIGHTS AT THE CATHEDRAL

Christmas lights at the Cathedral starts on Thursday 14 December and runs until Monday 25 December, 2023. 

Live entertainment starts 6.30pm on the steps of the Cathedral. Christmas projection of the Lights starts 8.30pm.

ADVENT WREATH - BLESSINGS & PRAYERS

Our parents helped Fr Rafael with this beautiful Advent Wreath for the Holy Family Church.The use of the Advent Wreath is a beautiful addition to your home at Christmas time.

Each Sunday you can light a new candle and by Christmas day all candles are lit. The candles represent the four weeks of Advent, and the number of candles lit each week corresponds to the number of the current weeks of Advent. Ordinarily, three candles are violet and one is rose-coloured. 

Praying with the Advent Wreath at home 

1. Begin by making the Sigh of the Cross.
2. Parents or grandparents light the candle (s).
3. Read a piece of scripture (your favourite) or say a Hail Mary.
4. Sing your favourite Christmas carol e.g Away in the Manger.
5. Conclude by making the Sign of the Cross

Come and see this peaceful Holy Family Church, Maroubra Nativity scene by Fr Allan and Fr Rafael. Mary & Joseph, the shepherds, the angels have all arrived in the story so far. However, we’re waiting for Jesus to be born and his birthday is 25th December !
