Religious Education Update

Hannah Birchall | Religious Education Coordinator

We have been a very busy community over the past fortnight. Have a look at all the wonderful events and initiatives we have been involved in!

YEAR 6 RELIGIOUS EDUCATION TEST

Students in Year 6 recently received their results from the annual Religious Education Test. A very big congratulations to all students for their efforts, they should all be very proud of themselves. A special congratulations to Kaitlin S, Cassidy P, and Jade L who received Distinctions and to Ainsley S for receiving a High Distinction.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL CHRISTMAS APPEAL

Our community made the most generous Christmas hampers that were donated to St Vincent de Paul late last week. They were bursting with festive goodness and treats. I hope that they bring much happiness to those experiencing difficulties.

A special thank you to Mrs Smithson and the Mini Vinnies students for helping to organise the hampers.

YEAR 6 GRADUATION MASS

Last Friday, our community came together to celebrate our wonderful Year 6 students. Father Allan and Father Rafael led us in a special Mass and we concluded with the Graduation Ceremony. This is an important milestone marking the end of our Year 6 students' time in primary school.

I wish all the students in Year 6 the best of luck for their adventure into high school. May God continue to guide them on their journey and may they be blessed with hope, grace and love.

CHRISTMAS LITURGY

Yesterday afternoon, our students led us in the Christmas Story with music by John Burland.

It was a special occasion to remember the purpose of the season of Christmas and the birth of Jesus Christ. Thank you to Ms Clayton and all the teachers for preparing the students for this performance. A special thank you to all the parents and families who joined us, it was lovely to see the church so full.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL NIGHT PATROL SANDWICH MAKING

Last Wednesday was another successful sandwich making event. This time we made over 300 sandwiches which is the St Aidan’s record.

A special thank you to the Mini Vinnies students and the parents who took the time to support this initiative. Without your help, undertaking this task would not be possible. Our community should be very proud of all the efforts that are put into sandwich making. It is no easy feat and it ensures people in our community have a nutritious meal for dinner.

Please find details for the Christmas Masses at Holy Family Parish below:

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND THANK YOU

I would like to wish every St Aidan’s family a happy, holy and safe Christmas and New Year. I hope that this time is filled with quality family time, full bellies, fun and laughter. In 2024, I will be taking leave from St Aidan's and making the move to Newcastle for 12 months. I have cherished the past 7 years at St Aidan’s and have very fond memories of this beautiful school. I am excited for my new adventure, but I will miss the students, staff and families of St Aidan’s. Have a wonderful 2024 and I look forward to seeing you all again soon.
