Year 7 to 9

Year 7 2024 Information Evening

On Monday 20 November, parents and some students for Year 7 2024 were invited to attend an Information Evening, organised by Leanne Kaufmann, Transition Coordinator, to share information regarding student transition. The evening was a success and concluded with many positive and engaging conversations between staff, parents and future students. I would like to acknowledge students from 7C, Joshua who provided an Acknowledgment to Country and an inspirational speech from Charlotte, that was sure to excite any future student who was present at the event. Also, thanks to the Parents and Friends Association for providing information and light refreshments in the mezzanine area afterwards.

Year 7 – 9 Classes 2024

At this time of year coordinators are busy working with feedback from staff and their own cohort understanding, to create classes for 2024 that have the aim of providing the best learning environment possible for Middle School students. A number of factors are taken into consideration such as current class behaviour and performance, feedback from staff on who does and doesn’t work well together and connections with peers. It is a long process that has the best intentions of all students in mind. We look forward to students getting to know their new classes during the Advance Program.

Advance Program

Students who are currently in Year 7, 8 or 9 will commence their 2024 studies 'Advance Program' from Monday 27 November for 2 weeks.  It is essential that all students returning in 2024 attend these classes. During this program, students formally begin studying content for the following year. Students will be referred to by the new year (current Year 7s will be called Year 8), will have a new timetable and in most cases, new teachers.

The work undertaken during this program contributes to the 2024 academic year.

Students NOT returning to EDSC in 2024 will not have formal classes to attend and we encourage that parents reach out to their child’s new school and ask to begin their version of the Advance Program.

Student Lunches

Just a reminder to parents that we are unable to deliver lunches to students during school time.  If your student has forgotten their lunch, it can be dropped in to the General Office but it is the student’s responsibility to come and collect it.

Hot food is not suitable to be left at the office.  PLEASE NOTE:- Take-away food is not allowed during school hours.

Under no circumstances are students to be ordering take-away food to be delivered to the College.

Student Compass ID/Library/PTV  Cards

Please remind all students that they must carry their Student Compass ID/Library/PTV  Cards with them at all times.

ALL students must sign in with their card at the Middle School Office when they are arriving late and sign out at the General Office when they are leaving early for any reason.

The cards are also used for any student photocopying that is done at school. The EDSC Student Compass ID/Library card can be used as ID for student PTV (Public Transport Victoria) travel. They are required to carry this card as student identification while travelling on public transport.

If a student loses their card, parents/guardians are able to re-order a replacement card via the Compass parent portal.
