Lockers
All students have been asked to clean out their lockers this week and hand their lock to their Homeroom Teacher. This will enable us to do a deep clean of the lockers and the locker areas to start fresh in 2024. The school provides a locker and a lock for each student and the expectation is that students will use this locker to store their school belongings. Their locker should be kept locked at all times and they should not be either sharing their locker or using someone else’s locker. If phones are brought to school the expectation is that it should be secured in their locker during the day, not taken to class or used in the yard.
Uniform
We have spoken to students over the last few weeks to remind them that in 2024 we will have a full transition to the new uniform. A few things to note as we move into holidays - Clarks have uniform items readily available, the ‘old’ school jacket with white piping can no longer be worn, only Year 7 and 8 students can wear the blue polo, all other students must wear the new cotton shirt and all students must be wearing the school socks. Please make sure that uniform items are ready, replenished or replaced before the new year.
Presentation Night
We are busily preparing for our Presentation Night on Monday. This is always a wonderful evening and is a chance for us to celebrate the life of our school and student achievements. This year our Keynote Speaker is Neane Carter, a past student who has already achieved wonderful things since graduating and has much to share with us. All families and students are sincerely encouraged to attend on Monday evening.
Changes in 2024
As circulated to families, there are changes to our timetable next year. There will no doubt be a period of adjustment for our students and staff but I am confident that we will settle quickly into new routines. A reminder for families to follow our school on Facebook, and Instagram and to keep Operoo updated - these are all wonderful and timely ways to keep in touch with what is happening each day at St Mary MacKillop College.
Thank you to all our students and families for a wonderful year. The weeks ahead offer time and space for us to recharge our batteries so to speak, to spend time with family and friends, to rest and enjoy all that the Season of Christmas has to offer.
Wishing you a peace filled and joyous Christmas and a safe holiday break.
