Remembrance Day: Lest We Forget
Last Friday the College came together in solidarity to honour the brave Australian service men and women who sacrificed their lives to protect our freedoms.
The service began with some wonderful music by our College Choir, setting the tone for a meaningful gathering. Heartfelt speeches followed, including a touching talk by Ms Natasha Saunders, whose grandfather served as an ANZAC.
During the ceremony we were reminded of the extraordinary courage and bravery of our fallen soldiers, and how their sacrifice has played a crucial role in shaping the peaceful and harmonious country we are fortunate to call home today. The service concluded with a reflective moment of silence, allowing the College community to collectively honour the memory of our heroic service men and women.
Following the service students paid tribute by placing poppy flowers beneath the flags on our campus.
As we reflect on this occasion, let us carry forward the spirit of remembrance, ensuring that we never forget the selfless sacrifices made by our service men and women. We will remember them.
2023 ASC French Linguistic Tour
In the last week of Term 3, a group of 22 students from Years 10 and 11 embarked on a French Exchange program, setting off for a three-week linguistic adventure in Nice and Paris. For two weeks they were warmly welcomed into local families in Nice. Students were given the opportunity to experience daily life in a French family and attend our sister school, the Lycée d’Estienne d’orves. Alongside their host siblings, students immersed themselves in the beauty and charm of the south of France, discovering Nice and its surroundings.
On 30 September we boarded the TGV bullet train journey on a five-hour journey to Paris, revelling in panoramic views of France’s diverse cities. We started Day One with the ‘must-see’ Eiffel Tower by day and by night. The Paris adventure encompassed visits to iconic landmarks, catching the crowded metro, and savouring local delicacies such as Cheese Fondue and snails.
The City of Light illuminated students’ understanding of its rich culture and history.
As the tour ended, students spoke of deepened linguistic skills, cultural understanding and the lifelong friendships forged.
The French exchange tour was an incredible experience. I enjoyed every single second, and I feel that I have not only developed my linguistic abilities, but also built close bonds with other students on the tour and, in particular, with my amazing host family. It was an unforgettable trip, and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to participate. Katie Biddulph (Year 11)
My understanding of the French language was greatly strengthened by the trip, and the immersion in French culture enhanced my appreciation for France’s rich history and art. Harry Shen (Year 10).
I found the French Exchange program to be incredibly rewarding and beneficial not only for my linguistic learning, but also for building lifelong close international relationships. Tunmise Aniyi (Year 11).
The French Exchange was an incredible experience that allowed me to forge lifelong friendships and significantly enhanced my French skills. Immersing myself in the French school system was an eye-opening experience, providing me with a fresh perspective on the diversity of school life worldwide. Overall, it was an amazing opportunity for which I am truly grateful. Cameron Renkema (Year 10).

House Council Leadership Day
On Friday 3 November, the six 2024 House Council teams immersed themselves in a House Council Leadership Day, run by the Heads of House. Each House Council is composed of students who will be in Years 9–12 in 2024. It was a superb day, with beautiful weather and a group of super-enthusiastic students ready to develop their leadership skills.
The students were involved in a leadership seminar, House planning time, a series of team building exercises, reflection sessions and thought-provoking workshops that encouraged them reflect on how they will make a positive impact on their respective Houses in 2024. Students thoroughly enjoyed themselves during these sessions.
These activities provided students with the opportunity to interact with each other and discover their individual strengths. It was a highly productive and rewarding day, and we are eager to witness the achievements of the 2024 House Council Teams in the next 12 months.

Old Saint Tom Barnes and His Team Deliver Extraordinary Dunk Show
During lunchtime last Wednesday, students were treated to a jaw-dropping basketball dunk show by our very own Old Saint Tom Barnes (Class of 2018) and his talented team from JumpX Performance Coaching.
The basketball courts in the ISC came alive with excitement as students gathered around to witness the incredible athleticism of the performers, who were seemingly immune to the laws of gravity.
The dunk show not only showcased the remarkable talents that emerge from the ASC, but also the strong bond that persists between the College and its alumni.
Outdoor Education Camp
On Monday 30 October, the Year 9 and 10 Outdoor Education students headed off to Wellington National Park near Collie to spend three days camping and putting into action all that they had learnt throughout Semester 2.
Over three days students spent their time at the Potters Gorge campsite bushwalking, kayaking and completing team building activities. They organised, prepared and cooked all their meals, showcasing their independence, leadership and problem-solving abilities.
The skills on display were impressive, and the enthusiasm and energy displayed by all students was a pleasure to witness.
A huge thank you to all on their impeccable behaviour, as well as to the staff who gave up their time to make sure the students were able to take part in this incredible experience.

Year 8/9 Girls’ Football Carnival
On Friday 3 November, All Saints’ College hosted the annual Year 8/9 Girls’ Football Carnival. This is the 18th year that All Saints’ has organised and run the Carnival on the College oval, and it’s always an incredible day.
Held in conjunction with East Fremantle and South Fremantle Football Clubs, the Carnival allows girls from schools from surrounding districts to participate in a fun and non-competitive environment, with the focus on enjoyment and skills development.
This year nine teams from a range of different schools participated in the carnival, with some outstanding performances throughout the day. It was incredible to have the College oval full of female footballers having fun and learning the skills of the great game of Australian Rules Football. A huge thank you to Mrs Rahni Hooker for organising the event, as well as Ms Ariel Mroz who coached the All Saints’ team on the day. All Saints’ College has been a pioneer of female participation in Australian Rules Football, and the 2023 Year 8/9 Carnival was an example of exactly that.
