Science

As always, Science has continued to be a dynamic and exciting learning environment for our students.

In Year 7, students have delved into the captivating world of forces. As part of their studies, they embarked on an intriguing project - constructing Robocopters made of paper. These lightweight contraptions were built in various sizes and with different weights, all with the goal of understanding which variables influence the time it takes for them to descend to the ground.

Year 8 students have embarked on a journey into the intricacies of reproduction. As part of their exploration, they created Human Foetal Development and Pregnancy Timelines, which track the amazing stages of human development from conception to birth.

In addition to these timelines, students have also designed models of the human reproductive organs. These models serve as valuable educational tools, allowing students to understand the structure and function of these essential parts of the human body.

Year 9 students have just wrapped up an exciting unit on various reaction types. Highlights from their studies included captivating experiments such as burning crackers to observe combustion and how it releases heat energy. They also explored the concept of radioactive decay and half-life, using M&Ms to create models that helped them model this fascinating process.

Year 10 students have been on a cosmic journey, studying the mysteries of the universe. Their exploration included in-depth research on various aspects of the cosmos, including how we measure distances in space, colour and magnitude of stars, black holes and galaxies. Students honed their presentation skills by researching and delivering oral presentations on topics of their choice, from black holes to the formation of stars.
