Student Achievement

My road to success - by Kiah Rutley

I can trace my interests in horses from my preschool days but it was not until last year that I formally commenced my equestrian career in the sport of eventing.

Eventing is an equestrian event where a single horse and rider combine and compete against other competitors across the three disciplines of dressage, cross-country, and show jumping.

Even though the sport demands many hours of training I consider my journey in this challenging, competitive sport has built my self-confidence.  Every week I grow in confidence, a confidence I feel has come from my eventing.

Eventing is mentally and physically challenging, but the rewards are worth it. It requires training twice weekly but this is worth it as this hard work has helped me become successful in my new sport.

Proud achievements:

  • 1st place at Gisborne Horse Trials
  • 4th place at Seville Horse Trials and
  • 5th place at Yarrambat Horse Trials

I've also been given an amazing opportunity to be sponsored by Healesville Stock feeds.

In the coming years, I know that eventing will continue to be a passion and something that will demand my attention. I am excited to keep pursuing my interest in this area.
