Hospitality Training Course

Once again, Healesville High School explored opportunities for students to extend their learning through involvement in a Hospitality Course. Presented by a trainer from CIRE, and financially supported by the Outer Eastern LLEN, thirty Year 10 and 11 students completed a Certificate course that encompassed Food Handling, Responsible Service of Alcohol, and Barista training.

For many of the students who completed this training, they will be able to have these hours and experience accredited to their Year 11 VCE Vocational Major studies.

It is the intention that in 2024 students will design and operate a small business in terms of providing coffee on special occasions.

Special thanks to Mr Brian Chipperfield for his amazing donation of two barista machines to support this initiative.

Thanks to Mr Paul Darlison, Mr Danny Zemp and past teacher, Mr Pete Scully for their incredible efforts in designing and creating a special mobile coffee cart to support this venture. We also acknowledge the input of Year 9 student, Paisley Stock for her design efforts.

Thanks also to Mrs Gabby Plunkett, Mrs Jacqui Godfrey, Mrs Andrea Evans, and Mrs Elizabeth Chungath for embedding the program into the VCE – VM course.

We look forward to supporting this venture in the future.
