Disco, Pizza, & Movie Night and LEGOLAND Discovery Centre
The last two weeks have been incredibly busy for our Grade 1/2 students, with our special end of year celebration, the 'Disco, Pizza and Movie Night' and our adventure to 'LEGOLAND Discovery Centre'.
On Friday 10th November students excitedly got dressed in their party attire and arrived at school at 4.30pm to join the throng of dancers enjoying our disco. DJ Draper was in the house and provided a playlist full of our favourite tunes and beats, as voted on by our students. With flashing disco lights and a conga line to boot, students had a fabulous time grooving to the music and hanging with friends!
Following the musical entertainment, students enjoyed a pizza dinner, while picnicking with their friends in our lovely school grounds. As it was a hot evening students were very pleased to be consuming a refreshing icy pole for dessert!
The last part of our evening involved our students collecting their favourite soft toys and pillows and congregating in the gallery space to view the animated feature film, 'Sing' which was a hit! Our Grade 1/2s enjoyed some yummy popcorn before our movie concluded.
Here are some reflections from our Grade 1/2 students on our special event:
On Monday 20th November, our Foundation and Grade 1/2 students were very excited to attend the LEGOLAND Discovery centre located in Chadstone.
Students enjoyed a variety of activities, including:
Creative Storytelling workshop
This involved students using their imagination to build a story out of LEGO. Students made sure that their stories included vital elements to create an engaging story. Once all stories were built, students were given the opportunity to share their work with the class.
LEGO build and play zone
This included the 'Lego Racers: Build and Test' where students could build their own cars and test/race them down ramps, 'Lego City Fire Academy' which allowed students to climb through different soft play areas with their friends, 'Earthquake Tables' where students could take on the challenge and test the strength of their brick towers when the tables started shaking, and 'Underwater Quest' where we could discover mysterious sea creatures at the bottom of the ocean with the interactive digital build table and stop motion stations!
Exploring the attractions
Students enjoyed the cinematic experience of the 'LEGO 4D cinema' and were delighted with the feeling or rain, wind and even snow. Students worked together to save the captured princess riding aboard a chariot on the 'Kingdom Quest' ride, and explored Melbourne in Minifigure scale in 'Miniland Melbourne' attraction.
Here are some reflections from our Grade 1/2 students on their visit:
Upon returning to school, all of our Grade 1/2s reflected on their experience at Legoland either as a drawing, a recount or an acrostic poem.
A special thank you to all the parent helpers who volunteered to assist at our LEGOLAND excursion... it was greatly appreciated!
