Legoland Excursion

Legoland here we come! On Monday 20th November we joined the Year 1 and 2 students, teachers and wonderful parent helpers, boarded two buses and headed to Chadstone. Although there wasn’t any shopping on the schedule, there was much excitement walking through the Fashion Capital buildings!

In our groups, we spent the day exploring the different playgrounds, zones, rides and areas of Legoland. The busyness and excitement was enormous!

Each group participated in a Creative Story- telling workshop where we used our imagination to build a story out of Lego. Firstly, we discussed elements of a story including the characters and setting. In our Inquiry this term, we have been exploring traditional Fairytales in depth so we knew a lot of Fairytale characteristics. We had to think about how to create an engaging story for our audience, which was our peers. Once our stories were built, we shared these with our peers.

In the 4D cinema some groups watched a movie called the Lego Movie and others experienced the Ninjago Movie. The effects were INCREDIBLE! Can you believe we got rained on and walked away very wet?! Some groups jumped on the Kingdom Quest ride where we became part of the experience and had to zap the enemies to save the dragon nest and Princess Fiona! In the Underwater Quest, we built our own sea creatures and created a short movie using the interactive digital build table!

Exploring the Miniland Lego display was definitely a highlight! In this replica of Melbourne’s famous buildings and landmarks, we saw Luna Park, Flinders Street Station and Eureka Tower. Did you know that the Miniland Melbourne Lego display was built from over 1.5 million Lego bricks?!

The excursion to Legoland encouraged problem solving, inspired creativity and promoted team work. It was such a fun and eventful excursion and we are thrilled to have been part of it. Thank you to our wonderful parents for joining us at Legoland. We are sure all of the students slept well on Monday night after such a huge day!

Foundation Stars Term 4

In Week 6, Xu Dong (FKJ) was FKJ's final Foundation Star for the year! Xu Dong proudly shared his Personal Timeline with us all. Xu Dong had made a six page book with some wonderful pictures showing us what he had experienced in each year of his life! In his timeline, Xu Dong showed us many photos from when he lived in China. We all came to understand what it was like to live in the country of China by looking at these photos and listening to Xu Dong talk about each picture. Thank you Xu Dong for sharing your fascinating Timeline with us all! It was so interesting to hear about what life was like for you before you moved to Australia! Great work Xu Dong!

In Week 7 Cathy (FSR) was the final Foundation Star for the 2024 Foundation year! Cathy was so excited to share her presentations with her class! At the end of the week, Cathy decided that she wanted to share her personal timeline at the end of the week. Cathy shared some wonderful images with us all. One photo was of an incredible rainbow cake that she was given before she came to school. It looked so delicious! We all wanted a piece! Well done Cathy for your fabulous presentations. We were all so interested to learn a little bit more about you. Excellent effort!
