Take note

Travel courtesy and etiquette | Information for students

It is an expectation that students travelling to and from school by bus conduct themselves in a polite and courteous manner at all times.

When on board public transport, students are reminded to be respectful and considerate of all passengers, the driver and the bus property.

This includes making room for people getting on and off the bus, not taking up more than one seat when others are standing, not blocking the door and aisles with bags, being mindful when eating snacks, and using headphones with mobile devices and ensuring the volume is appropriate.

Students are reminded that priority seating should be made available for use by any passengers with additional needs or who require extra support.

Even if you're not in a designated priority space, it is common courtesy to give up your seat for someone who needs it more than you - pregnant women, the elderly, children, or disabled/injured passengers.

Vinnies Christmas Hampers

This year, St Mary’s College is once again supporting the Vinnie Christmas Appeal. This support will be in the form of Christmas hampers, which our students will be helping to assemble in the coming weeks.

Each classroom and Homeroom has a donation basket ready to fill, and we kindly ask that students and their families consider donating a gift that Vinnies can pack into hampers for local families in need.

Vinnies are suggesting gift cards will be a good option, or donations of family treats or toys for all ages (newborn to 14 years). All gifts will be gratefully received for inclusion in the baskets.

More information will be contained in a letter to be sent to families shortly.

We thank you in advance for your support of this initiative. Your contributions will make a difference to those in our community facing hardship this Christmas.
