Indonesian Speaking Competition Award Night 2025
On the 1st of August 2025, the Indonesian Speaking Competition Award Night was truly enchanting as around 90 winners were celebrated for their dedication and enthusiasm in learning Indonesian. Our GRPS winners and their families were there to mark another proud milestone in their learning journey.
Congratulations once again to Clarence (1C), May Sie (2E), and Leroy (4A) on this outstanding achievement!
Let’s go, GRPS!
What are we working on?
Preps
At the beginning of Term 3, our Prep students were introduced to the "Counting Fruit" song. The majority showed fantastic participation, eagerly answering questions related to the names of fruits in both Indonesian and English, as well as demonstrating their growing knowledge of numbers.
In addition, students continued expanding their Indonesian vocabulary through alphabetical colouring sheets. One exciting example was learning about a traditional Indonesian drink called Jamu, made from turmeric, ginger, and lime.
Well done, Prep students – keep up the great learning effort!
Grade 1 to Grade 2
To help reinforce their knowledge of numbers and colours, our Grade 1 and 2 students enjoyed working on a fun 'Colour by Numbers' activity. A definite highlight was seeing them put their best colouring skills into action—amazing effort all around!
In addition, students created their own notes on Makanan (Food) after listening to a catchy Indonesian song about different foods. There's plenty of excitement building as they look forward to making and tasting Nasi Goreng with their peers at school.
Bagus, anak-anak! (Well done, children!) Keep up the great work!
Grade 3 to Grade 6
To kick off an exciting Term 3, our Grade 3 to Grade 6 students have been diving into the topic of Makanan (Food). One of the highlights was listening to and singing along with the captivating Indonesian food song from the Bibitsku Channel – a definite favourite among the students!
As part of their learning, students created their own food-themed notes using lists and graphic organisers. They also had a blast playing Indonesian Food Bingo, which helped reinforce their vocabulary in a fun and interactive way.
Some brave and enthusiastic learners constructed Indonesian sentences—both spoken and written—about their favourite foods. What a champion! Keep up the amazing effort, everyone!
The human pyramid created by 3C perfectly represents how GRPS students build their skills in acquiring an additional language. Just like each layer of the pyramid, they strengthen their language foundation day by day—steadily stacking their knowledge and never stopping their learning journey.
Their resilience and perseverance in learning a new language is truly inspiring. Well done, 3C and all our amazing language learners!
