Where are the Preps ?

There was a brief moment of panic at Great Ryrie this week when we couldn’t find the Prep teachers … but don’t worry, they weren't far away.

Our fabulous Prep teachers arrived in full Glam-ma style to celebrate the 100 Days of School with gold jackets, pink lipstick, glittery bags and purple rinsed hair.

But it wasn’t just the staff turning heads , the Prep students looked like they’d stepped straight out of a retirement village, (or maybe a fabulous seniors’ Zumba class), complete with walking sticks, cardigans, curlers and grey wigs.

The day was full of celebration, glitter and fun as our Preps celebrated with party food and fun activities.

We’re proud of how far they’ve come in just 100 days  and they still have a term and a half to go. The sky is the limit!

Indonesian Speaking Competition Award Night

Congratulations to Clarence (1C), May Sie (2E), and Leroy (4A) on their outstanding achievement recognised at the Indonesian Speaking Competition Award Night. We are so fortunate to have Bu Sia who is such a dedicated teacher.

Please refer to the LOTE page for photographs and a full report.

Farewell

This term, we say goodbye to a much loved member of Great Ryrie Primary School, Di Welsh. Di has been part of our English as an Additional Language (EAL) program for 25 years, supporting students and their families with care and dedication.

Di has a quiet, calm way of working that brings out the best in her students. She takes the time to get to know each child, helping them grow in confidence and feel that they belong. Di always has time for a chat, a kind word, or a helping hand, and she will be missed by all of us .

As she moves on to a new life near the beach, we thank Di for everything she has given to our school. We wish her all the very best and hope she leaves with fond memories of her time at Great Ryrie.

Safety in the Car Park

Over the years, we’ve received many emails and concerns about parking in the bottom car park. We’re fortunate at Great Ryrie to have a dedicated parking area for families which is  something many schools don’t have, but with that comes the responsibility to keep it safe and orderly for everyone.

Unfortunately, there was an incident involving a vehicle in the car park, which reinforced the need to make some important changes to prioritise student safety. As a result, we’ve installed bollards, wheel stops (bumpers), and introduced a reverse parking policy in this area.

Reversing into a space means that when it's time to leave, drivers have a clearer view of pedestrians, including our young students who can be difficult to see. These changes are designed to reduce risk and create a safer environment for drop-offs and pick-ups.

Thank you for supporting these improvements and helping us keep our school community safe.

The sun is set to shine this weekend, and our sensory garden is continuing to flourish. The ferns are beginning to peek out from their protective trunks, and everything is looking fresh and full of life. If you happen to be up at school over the weekend, please help us keep the garden safe and cared for. It's a special space that’s growing beautifully, thanks to everyone’s efforts.

Enjoy the weekend with your family and friends,
