SC1 Learning Snapshot

Maths

SC1 has had a settled and positive start to Term 3. In Maths, we’ve started our unit on Shape. In some of our lessons, students have enjoyed going on 2D shape hunts, creating different types of quadrilaterals, and combining and splitting shapes using tangram pieces. We also kicked off our new Inquiry topic, Then and Now, with some excitement as Archie brought in a fantastic Show and Tell item that sparked curiosity among the class. Charlie also enjoyed stepping into the role of teacher assistant, helping the Preps with their review session.

Thank you,

Chelsea and Beth

SC2 Learning Snapshot

We have had such a settled and productive start to Term 3 in SC2. Despite the weather, students have returned full of energy and enthusiasm to kick straight into our learning sequences. In Reading to start the term, we have been studying the theme of Ancient Greece and Rome. Students have been developing their reading skills whilst learning about the way of life in these ancient worlds.

On Monday afternoon as part of our “Cashing In” Inquiry unit, students participated in a mock market gathering, playing the part of a merchant from different areas around Ancient Greece. Students experienced the joys and challenges of trading goods and services, in a fun and interactive way!

Have another great week,

Jarrod

Principal for a Day!

This week in both classes, students will have the opportunity to create a submission to apply for the fun Principal for a Day competition. Similar to the Buninyong Campus, students at Scotsburn will have the opportunity to be selected to join Mr Morgan on an upcoming Tuesday, to complete all the important jobs around the campus. These might include (but not limited to):

  • Helping with the newsletter
  • Putting the bins out
  • Helping with morning announcements
  • Making some toasties
  • Talking to the classrooms about upcoming events
  • Planning assemblies

We will be taking a good look at the submissions later this week and will be selecting the lucky winners by the end of Friday.

Community Bank Buninyong Veggie Patch Upgrade Application

On Monday afternoon, we received the news that our application for funding to assist the upgrade of our Veggie Patch was successful through the Community Bank Buninyong. This was amazing news and will allow us to have both the veggie patch and greenhouse ready for the upcoming warmer weather, for students to use as part of our sustainability and Family Groups programs.

In the coming weeks, we will be letting families know of some dates to help with some small working bees to get the ball rolling.

A massive thank you to the Community Bank Buninyong for their continued support!

Whole Day at Buninyong Campus next Thursday - Thursday 7 August

Next Thursday the Scotsburn Campus will spend the entire day at the Buninyong Campus. This is so that the Young Authors Program can have full use of the campus to host their second workshop for the year. We love having the opportunity to show off our amazing campus to staff and students from lots of different schools in the region, displaying all that we have to offer.

Our specialist program timetable will run as normal with Ms Middlin, working in rooms at the Buninyong Campus. Buses will also run as normal, with drop off and pick up at Buninyong. Thank you in advance everyone for your flexibility on this day.

Breakfast Club and Fruit is Back!

Join us this Wednesday morning as we kick back into our weekly Wednesday breakfast club! Pop into the old building before school for some toast, cereal, yoghurt and a warm milo. See you there!

2026 Scotsburn Enrolments

If you know any families that are looking to enrol their child/children for 2026 (or in the foreseeable future), please complete an enrolment form and submit it to the office at Buninyong. If you have any questions, please email Jarrod at jarrod.morgan@education.vic.gov.au

For those considering enrolment at our beautiful campus, the video below is a great snapshot of what we have to offer:

Scotsburn Intercampus Travel

At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day.

We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements.

If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher.
