FOOD TECHNOLOGY

It's been a busy and delicious Term in Food Technology!
Year 8 students have been learning essential kitchen skills, focusing on safe food handling, cutting techniques, and working with fresh ingredients. They have made a range of simple but healthy dishes including fruit skewers, veggie sticks with dip, baked potatoes, and smoothies. Through these practicals, students explored new cookery methods, presentation skills, and how to prepare a balanced snack or meal.
Year 9 students have been building on their knowledge by creating more complex recipes such as mini quiches and wattle seed scones. The scones gave students an opportunity to learn about Indigenous ingredients and the importance of using native foods in modern cooking. These activities have allowed students to continue to develop their practical cooking knowledge and their confidence in the kitchen.
Both year levels have demonstrated creativity, teamwork, and growing independence in the kitchen. We’ve been impressed with their enthusiasm to try new skills and flavours
We look forward to seeing what our budding chefs will create next term.
