WELLBEING

R U OK? Day

On the 11th September we celebrated R U OK Day. Students were invited to wear a splash of yellow and activities were held in the library for students to participate in. A morning tea was also held for staff. R U OK? inspires and empowers everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and start a conversation with those in their world who may be struggling with life. You don't need to be an expert to reach out - just a good friend

Use these four steps and have a conversation that could change a life:

  1. Ask R U OK?

  2. Listen

  3. Encourage action

  4. Check in

Brainstorm Productions

Brainstorm Productions attended school on the 15th of September 2025 and gave a live performance to our Year 8 students that challenges them to reflect on cyberbullying, values and the responsible use of technology. This performance highlights the importance of personal responsibility, empathy, respect and resilience in the online world.

Change Makers Program

This term we have been running a small-group program for our Year 9 students in partnership with Jesuit Social Services. The Change Makers Program, developed by Jesuit Social Services – The Men’s Project, aims to empower young people by providing them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to live safe, fulfilling lives free from violence and other harmful behaviours. Each week, the students have the opportunity to attend the program and engage with important topics, such as exploring their personal values and addressing the pressures faced by young men. The program encourages meaningful discussions and helps students develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their role in creating positive change.

RISE UP Program

The RISE Up Program is a small-group initiative that some of our Year 9 students have had the chance to engage with throughout the term. In collaboration with youth workers and lawyers from the Northern Legal Community Centre, the students explored a range of important themes related to legal, economic, and wellbeing topics. The program covered subjects such as healthy relationships, setting boundaries, personal values, available support services, employment rights, consent, and navigating issues like debts and fines. These sessions provided valuable insights and practical knowledge to help students better understand their rights and responsibilities in various areas of their lives.

Glitter Group

This term, we launched our Glitter Group, a small-group program designed for LGBTQIA+ students and their allies to come together, share experiences, and learn from one another. In collaboration with Hume Youth Services, this voluntary group meets once a fortnight during break times, providing a safe and supportive space for students to connect and engage with each other.
