Learning & Teaching

Term 2 Learning Expo

On Friday we will have our classrooms open for you to see what’s been happening this term. Parents/Carers and families are invited into the classrooms from 1:30-1:50pm. Following this, you are invited to stay for Friday Races (1:50-2:10pm), a Farewell to Mrs Roberts Assembly in the Knuldoorong at 2:10pm and an afternoon tea from 2:40-3:10pm.

Reports

Each semester, teachers write a report for the students that they teach. Next week, you will be able to access your child’s Semester 1 2025 report via the SimonEverywhere app. For any families who would still like a printed copy of the report, please contact the office.

One noticeable change to this report is the move to one progression point to Maths.

Please find below information explaining this change.

Choir Visit to Bethlehem

On Wednesday June 18th the choir visited the elderly at Bethlehem Home for the Aged to sing some songs and socialise with the residents.

"Singing at Bethlehem was really exciting because I like visiting old people. It reminded me of visiting my Nan’s house. We sang and did hand clapping with the elderly people. At the end we got to pat a cat. Everyone was very lovely."

Grace, Banya

"We and Life to the Full and Coo-Coo. It was fun to sing and pat the cat."

Zander, Guwak

"The St Peter’s choir went on an excursion to Bethlehem. There were many Grandmas and Grandpas waiting for us to sing to them. When we arrived at our destination, we went straight to the stage. The first songs we sang were ‘I want to be Happy’ and ‘Iko Iko’. We have a clapping pattern for Iko Iko. Mrs Heinrick taught the Grandmas and Grandpas the pattern. Then we partnered up with the audience. We finished our performance with a bow. Then we said bye to everyone and came back to school by bus."

Sreejita, Yulawil

Friday School Assembly

Each Friday, different classes will take turns in leading Friday assembly. Classes will also be sharing what has been happening in their class. This week no class will be leading assembly as it is Jen Robert’s farewell assembly.

  • Week 11 – Duan & Mumumburra

Last week, we had our Year 3/4 Wirrap lead assembly sharing their Acknowledgement of Country, leading prayer, and providing an update on the learning happening in their classroom. It was great to hear of their recent excursion to the Bendigo Mine and some facts they learnt about the history of Bendigo with mining.

"On Wednesday we went to the Central Deborah Gold Mine. We went underground 61 metres. We saw quartz with gold in it and a big drill and fake explosions. Then we took a lift to the top. We went on the tram to Lake Weerona and ate our lunch and had a play. We had a good time."

Derrick, Wirrap
